The Passion of the Christ has never been as relatable as it is now thanks to Tyler Perry [1]'s The Passion, a live event that aired on Fox on March 20.
Told in the present day and set in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans, the highly anticipated event took the timely biblical tale and sprinkled it with a hefty dose of 2016. The result? Jesus, played by hunky Telenovela star Jencarlos Canela, and his disciple Peter, played by Prince Royce, were (dare we say?) hot as modern-day people, and the typical gospel songs were replaced by surprisingly relevant hit songs of our generation, including Train's "Calling All Angels" [2] and Creed's "With Arms Wide Open." These modern twists make The Passion worth the watch — even if you don't observe Easter. Read on to see our favorite performances, and then check out a completely different side of Peter [4] (read: Prince Royce).
