Sofia Vergara's love for beauty is evident in her style on and off the red carpet [1]. You'll never catch the Modern Family leading lady with a strand of hair out of place, and you'll seldom find her without an equally flattering lipstick. So it's no surprise the Colombian beauty has been tapped for high-profile partnerships (including one with CoverGirl [2]) and fittingly crafted her own namesake fragrance in 2014 [3]. Now she's continuing to build her budding beauty credentials with an intoxicating scent for Avon, suitably titled So Very Sofia [4] ($36).
Her new fragrance perfectly encapsulates her bold personality and head-turning sexiness in a bottle. The scent opens with fruity top notes like juicy apricot and maracuja passion (a testament to her bubbly energy). Middle notes reveal a romantic bouquet of Flor de Mayo orchid, rich orris, and spirited orange blossoms. The scent proceeds to dry down to a sexy blend of golden patchouli, creamy vanilla, and textured vetiver. One spritz alone is enough to pique the senses of those around you, making it a standout fragrance to add to your Fall beauty rotation.
While celebrating the launch of her latest release, we chatted with Sofia on the phone about her new perfume and her empowering advice for feeling beautiful. Read on for more of what she had to say.
On Her New Fragrance
"I really wanted this fragrance to be bold. I think what I love most about Avon as a company is that it has been around for 130 years and has always done work to empower women and encourage us to be independent. That to me is very bold. So it was really important to channel that feeling in my new fragrance."
On Her Fall Beauty Routine
"Now that I am a little older I notice the effects climate has on my skin. When I was younger I adapted well to seasonal changes, but now I have to make some changes for the weather. I always swap out my skin care products and moisturizer for the cooler weather. I also change my fragrance in the Fall and go for something stronger. I say, go bold with your scent in the Fall and pack it on since you're less sweaty."
On When She Feels Most Confident
"I am the most confident when I am happy. And for me, personally, I feel my happiest when I get dolled up. I love putting a little extra effort in my hair and makeup, and even in the way that I work. I don't like feeling too laid back, so I take a little more time to get myself together and I feel more powerful. Sometimes all it takes for me is putting on lipstick or spraying some perfume. I also know that a lot of women prefer to wear no makeup and I think if that is what makes you feel powerful then absolutely do it! As long as we are doing what makes us happy."
On Beauty Advice For Her Fans
"I think it's important to be open to trying and finding the things that look good on you. Play around with hairstyles, makeup colors, and scents to find what complements you. Feeling beautiful, to me, is not about just opening a magazine and trying to copy someone else's look, because what works for someone else might not work for you.
"I also think it's important that women find one thing they choose to enhance no matter what. If you have beautiful hair or eyes, find new ways to show that off. Find what you love about yourself and take advantage of it!"
