On Sept. 12, Saturday Night Live announced three new cast members, and 28-year-old Mexican-American comedienne Melissa Villaseñor is one of them.

  2. She's the second Latina to ever be cast on SNL. (Though it has been widely reported that she is the first, that crown actually belongs to season 39's Noel Wells, who you may recognize from Master of None.)

  4. According to her bio, she "hangs out with her family every week."
  5. She has a cat.
  6. She first felt her calling for comedy during her high school talent show at Ramona Convent in Alhambra, CA. "It went so great that I realized, this is what I am supposed to be doing," she told The Daily Dot, "at 15 years old. It was a powerful feeling — I felt like there were flames in my chest."
  7. She was a finalist on season six of America's Got Talent.
  8. She is a voice actor on Cartoon Network's Adventure Time.
