Juntos: Letter From the Editors

Jul 14 2022 - 6:00am

POPSUGAR Latina initially launched in 2015 with one mission: to offer content for the modern, English-speaking Latina. She saw herself as 200 percent — 100 percent American and 100 percent Latina — and the editorial team focused on the issues she cared about most.

But as the world evolved, so did we. The community is at a crossroads with how we identify. Some prefer Latina, or Latinx, or Latine. Others choose not to use Latinidad as an identifier. Some identify as women or femme; others embrace nonbinary identities. This cultural renaissance challenged our editorial team to look inward when it comes to identity and inclusion. And we've decided to do that together.

"Juntos" acknowledges the strength in our collective culture and also makes room for individuality and innovation.

Juntos [1] is the digital destination where Latinx culture, pride, myriad intersectional identities, and joy are celebrated together. Here, we return to our roots, break generational cycles, defy stereotypes, and prioritize alegría. We've created a safe space that welcomes everyone. Juntos is a place where we can have frank conversations, find community, be entertained, y pásarlo bien!

The content you'll see on Juntos belongs everywhere — that's why content will be integrated across POPSUGAR, not just in one channel. We approach entertainment, wellness, style, and lifestyle with intersectional viewpoints. We're not quiet when it comes to racism and legislation affecting our people. But we believe that fun and leisure are forms of resistance. You can expect to find stories ranging from entertainment nostalgia to financial-literacy coaching and monthly tarot readings.

Above all else, we're here to have a good time — join us! [2]

Best,

Johanna Ferreira and Angela Elias
