"Rare" by Selena Gomez

While the track is all about self-love and independence, Selena seems to hint at her previous relationship with Justin as she sings about seeing a future with her partner, even though they don't see how special she is. "Saw us gettin' older / Burnin' toast in the toaster / My ambitions were too high / Waiting up for you upstairs / Why you act like I'm not there? / Baby, right now it feels like . . . you don't care," Selena sings.

"If I show you all my demons / And we dive into the deep end / Would we crash and burn like every time before? / I would tell you all my secrets / Wrap your arms around my weakness / If the only other option's letting go / I'll stay vulnerable." It's no secret that Selena and Justin had a history of breaking up and making up, and in "Vulnerable," Selena is pretty much asking if they try again, will it end up badly like all the other times?

"People You Know" by Selena Gomez

In "People You Know," Selena seems ready to let go of Justin as she acknowledges that sometimes people you used to know become strangers. "So many wasted (Wasted)," she sings. "Nights with (Nights with) you (You) / I still could taste it (Taste it) / I hate it, wish I could take it back 'cause / We used to be close, but people can go / From people you know to people you don't / And what hurts the most is people can go / From people you know to people you don't."

"Cut You Off" by Selena Gomez

Selena finally decides it's time to move on in "Cut You Off." While she doesn't name Justin specifically, songwriter Liza Owen did say on Instagram that it's about "an assh*le boy who shall not be named." Hmmm . . .

"Gotta chop-chop all the extra weight I've been carrying for fourteen-hundred-sixty days . . . The truth is that I think I've had enough / Professionally messin' with my trust / How could I confuse that sh*t for love?" Perhaps the most telling lyric is when Selena references "fourteen-hundred-sixty days," which is equivalent to four years and the amount of time Justin and Selena were together.
