Australian DJs Behind Royal Prank-Turned-Tragedy Speak Out

Australian shock jocks Mel Greig and Michael Christian say they were hoping to be hung up on last week when they called King Edwards VII's Hospital in London pretending to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. We all know that's not what happened, though, and the nurse who put them through has since committed suicide. The pair said that they thought the bad posh accents would have given them away. Christian said, "It was something that was funny and lighthearted and a tragic turn of events that I don't think we could have predicted." Before the nurse, Jacintha Saldanha, committed suicide, however, the DJs did not regret their prank, which violated Kate Middleton's privacy and also humiliated the nurses involved who handed over private medical details about the Duchess of Cambridge. Prior to the nurse's death, the DJs bragged about the joke on Facebook and on air, but in this interview, they claim they never wanted to get that sensitive information in the first place.
