Awaiting Results: The Coolest Maps in the World!

While we wait for the results out of West Virginia, go check out these maps. I cannot stress enough how geeky rad these pixilated hot-spot vote maps from the Daily Kos are. And there's a million of 'em. Watch the colors shift over time, election by election. And it's all Dems baby. On the map, "red represents Clinton votes, green represents Edwards votes, and blue represents Obama votes." Hmm. The whole thing looks pretty red to me. . . ? Check back here for results as soon as they're called!

I love maps like these, I could look at them forever. This one is kind of difficult to differentiate in some places.

That's kind of what I was trying to say, meg, but I think you said it better.

If blue is winning highly populate areas, there'd be less blue geographically.... we're a giant country with lots of rural areas, and then the tiny highly populated blips (that I think blue has won a lot of, but I haven't looked at the cnn maps in a long time and I choose to leave stats to Jillness)....

You also have to remember that a state could be overwhelmingly one color, but if a few key counties in that state are another color, it makes all of the difference. For example, Edwards may have won more counties in Iowa, but if Obama won counties with more people, he would still have won the state.

The also mention that there are color mixes in their for all the other original candidates as well. Making many areas look darker than should. The map is very miss leading.

if you unfocus your eyes for a minute, the colors vibrate.

Yes, Iowa looks like it went to Edwards but Obama won there.

Anything that is purple should be an Obama caounty, because of the softness of blue.

That's good to know, UnDave. I was pretty confused for a second.

Red is a stronger color, and Blue is a softer color. That's why the map looks more red than blue.
