Boyfriend Is Still Logging Into His Dating Profile

Still Logging Into His Dating Profile

This post comes from Group Therapy in our TrèsSugar Community. Feel free to add your advice in the comments!

I met a guy on a dating website. We've been dating now for about a month and a half. We talk on the phone every day, and see each other at least twice a week. Things have been going great, except he's still logging into his dating profile. Why would he do that if he's serious about dating me? I asked him if he was dating other girls, and that if he was then I didn't have any interest in continuing to see him, but he assured me that he wasn't and that I had nothing to worry about. Do you think he's looking for someone better than me? Or keeping his options open? This bothers me a lot.

Have a dilemma of your own? Post it, anonymously, to Group Therapy for advice, and check out what else is happening in the TrèsSugar Community. Maybe we'll feature your content on TrèsSugar.

For those who say, Well why are you on your profile... sometimes, you can do a search in Google and a dating profile is all laid out, along with recent activity. Discovered that this year, and of course had to dump the chump

Unless he has said he loves you, this guy isn't serious about you yet. So he's keeping his options open, sad to say. Maybe mention it to him, and tell him that you want to be exclusive and that you want him to delete it. If he gets uncomfortable with your suggestion, then, well, you have your answer.

I think focusing on what he's doing or looking at versus what goes on when you're together might cause a rift in the relationship. I have done a lot of online dating and who's to say he's not logging in to see if you're logging in? I actually wrote a post about this problem recently: - one month isn't really all that long too when you really think about it.

he is obviously keeping his options open, but furthermore, has he CALLED YOU his girlfriend? maybe he isn't "dating" anybody else but he doesn't think you guys are really that serious would bother me too...ask him to close the account and if he won't, you have a problem

I like Hiding55's response. Just think...he could be paranoid that he sees that you have logged in to your account since you've met. Perhaps he thinks you're keeping your options open. ;)

I had the same issue with my current boyfriend. I met him online and was upset when I saw that he had logged into his account. However, I realized that we hadn't stated that we were exclusive, and I had no way to know what he was actually DOING online He could have been checking email, but not replying, updating his settings, discontinuing his subscription, or even looking to see if I had been logging on. We've now been together for 2 1/2 years. Don't freak out until you actually have a reason to do so.

I agree w/ neveah.

A person's profile on a dating website says very clearly the time and day they last logged on. If someone logs on "just to clear out the messages," they can usually make their account invisible, inactive, and unsearchable, removing the need to clear out the messages.

How do you know he is still checking it? I pretty much agree with nevaeh. Also my best friend met her boyfriend on a dating website and she is really happy with him. She still gets on the website once or twice a week just to clear out the messages.

He's still keeping his options open. He may not be dating anyone else though, but it doesn't mean he can't check out other potentials online. I did online dating too, and yes, when I'm not 100% with the guy, although I wasn't dating other guys, I'd still check out my inbox (and believe me, usually there were always new mails) and check out the other profiles that sent me mails. Unless you guys are exclusive (have you had the talk?), I don't see anything wrong with checking out other potentials. Good luck.

he may just be keeping his options open just in case you skip out on him. it's only been a month or so. i agree, he shouldn't be doing this still if he's serious about dating you but are you positive that he is still going on there?

Are you in a committed, monogamous relationship (has it been stated BY HIM?) and have you had sex before this was stated? If so, he could still be looking for something better and just be keeping you around for the goodies.

How do you know he is still logging into his online dating account? Are you logging into yours too? Trust is a beautiful thing.
