Tell me about it, GS. Today is one of those days when I really feel the effects of having been dropped on my head so much as a baby. (Or maybe I'm just feeling the effects of last night's booze.)

Okay, I totally misunderstood what you said about peace! My bad! I swear, I just need to go back to bed today. My brain just isn't working!

Jude, you may be lost but not alone... lmao....
Jude-C Jude-C 8 years
Now I'm lost. :?
Great-Sommelier Great-Sommelier 8 years
You've had soldiers or terrorists in your house?
Mesayme Mesayme 8 years
I definitely agree with the leaving me alone part...it would be nice to give an opinion in peace as well.
Great-Sommelier Great-Sommelier 8 years
Y'all always forget, I'm libertarian for the most part. I just want to be left alone and to leave others alone!
Jude-C Jude-C 8 years
I like the way you look at it, GS :) I wish more people had that perspective!
Great-Sommelier Great-Sommelier 8 years
That's awesome Jude. But I am not anti smoker. I know there are some places I can go that will be smoke filled so I avoid them. As far as outside in public, they have just as much right to be there as I do. I won't sit right next to them, but they have the right.

That reminds me, GS. I make a huge point of not lighting up if there are pregnant women around, and if I see one coming, I put it out or go somewhere else. Just seems like common courtesy.
Great-Sommelier Great-Sommelier 8 years
If you are referring to me, I am not a smoker. I am pregnant right now. If I walk by a smoker I simply pick up the pace and hold my breath. Easy as that.

it's good to know some smokers care about the people and children who don't want to jeopardize their health; you've restored my faith...in some. As usual, it's assumed that if you don't know any better it must not be so...I live in the highest tobacco yielding state...what does that tell you about getting smoke-friendly laws passed. And I've never told a sole not to smoke other than a good friend when we were 15 (who has passed;asthma related) and my father who had a heart attack. It's just insensitive to subject other people.

see mykie your a nice person! I love it when smokers ask me before they do light up, its the polite thing to do.

CG - And you absolutely should! I'm a smoker, and even when driving my OWN car, if I have a friend with me that's a non-smoker I DON'T SMOKE. Just because I want a cig is no reason for me to jeopardize someone else.

*I dont tell people who smoke to stop, But i let it be known amoungst my friends and family that if they do they better take it far far away from me. *If the Rothschilds are for McCain? he will win.

Oh, sorry. I didn't mean in Chicago. I meant in other cities or states.
bellaressa bellaressa 8 years
No, Vespa. Here there is no smoking inside and you must be I think 25 ft from the doorway or risk a fine.
True-Song True-Song 8 years
(I mean, they are rude for smoking in doorways, not that you are rude of course!)
Vespa Vespa 8 years
But isn't it still legal to have smoking in some bars and restaurants? That would be funny if you could smoke inside but not by the door. LOL!
True-Song True-Song 8 years
Ew, bella, that is so rude.
Great-Sommelier Great-Sommelier 8 years
I can't think of a single place anymore where it isn't a city ordinance not to smoke in doorways. Even tiny towns have passed that.
bellaressa bellaressa 8 years
But em, in Chicago you are not suppose to smoke in from of doorways. It's a city ordnance. I love it when people smoke at the bus stop in the bus shelter while others are standing there.

I used to smoke regularly (still smoke, like, once in a blue moon) and I'm super considerate, but I always think people in Chicago are awful when it comes to being the same way. People light up in revolving doors, stand right in doorways and do it, sometimes smoke on train platforms even though there are 'no smoking' signs...and this is coming from someone who can tolerate smoke. A little consideration goes a long way, but that campaign sounds like a bad idea.

I lived in the South for several years, and I don't have any statistics, but it seemed like everyone smoked! It definitely seemed like a huge part of the culture, and I found myself feeling left out sometimes because it was such a social thing and it seemed like I was one of the few non-smokers. If there are a lot more smokers in an area, it seems like just math would tell you there would be more rude smokers. I'm sure it varies between states and even regions within states, though.
Great-Sommelier Great-Sommelier 8 years
I live in the south and don't see what you are talking about for the most part.
