Well in all fairness, regarding the Supreme Court case question, it is one of those questions that is almost too broad. I, who am studying law, had to think about one, not because I couldn't remember any, but I've read SOO many that I wouldn't know which one to cite off the top of my head. They all start to get jumbled up in my head after a while. I'm sure Sarah Palin is quite aware of several other Supreme Court cases, besides Roe v. Wade. Also, I think it is noteworthy that many people cite this case all the time, however know very little about what it actually entails, in which case, what's the point?

There's a lot of macroconcern in the nasdaq right now. It's probably not a good time to buy unless your horizon is 3-5 years.

Google is a pretty safe buy, but nothing is completely safe... especially in todays world. they make alot of mistakes, and have had some serious issues overseas.

It also felt like McCain and Palin were in the principal office. It was a really uncomfortable interview.

It dropped 30 point -- that's a good time to buy because Google is awesome. I believe Goggle is one of those rare companies that doesn't have any debt.

[I saw a clip of the interview last night. It showed McCain sitting next to Palin as she was being interviewed. It was sooo embarrassing, McCain was just beaming at her no matter what she said. He looked like a proud papa glowing in his daughter's presence.] Yeah that interview was REAL weird. There were some moments when Palin spoke that McCain's head was down. I wonder what he was thinking.

I wonder if its any coincidence that Google stock dropped over 30 points today

So maybe the stocks tanked, but they will be back up again. I give massive props to Google for their stand.

OMG I read the headline too quickly and thought it said Google opposes same sex marriage.

Considering how common the law degree is now, I don't see why someone running for a high political office WOULDN'T have one. It seems like it would be direct training for your job, and yeah, you would know a lot more about our legal system and where our laws came then. Course, I could be biased because I'm in law school...but...

Ahh, a corporation with a social conscience. See it can be done and you can still get filthy rich doing it.

True I love bananas but I'm not fond of sushi. I'll search youtube for the Palin/McCain interview. Thanks.

Also, sushibananas (which sounds gross, no offense to you, I just hate bananas) I could name a few cases, but more importantly, I am not one who needs a candidate to be like me. I don't want a candidate I would have to dinner or have a beer with. I want him or her to be 100 times smarter than I am.

Oh, and at least part of the joint McCain Palin interview is on youtube now. It's...awkward.

That's weird because I just read something in Time about Google not filtering anti-abortion ads for false information, saying it's an emotive issues and they don't want to take a position.

All of the sudden, network anchors are TRYING to make candidates look stupid? Palin and her defenders need to toughen up, she's been treated no worse than any other candidate and in some cases, better. If Palin had been a man and stumbled on the Bush Doctrine, Gibson would have been much harder - he can be ruthless with people he thinks can't support what they're saying. Palin's running for Vice President of the United States - reality in that job is much scarier than any reporter.

couric: can you name any supreme court cases other than roe v. wade? palin: umm... marshall v. marshall? couric: the anna nicole smith case? palin: yes. i read about it in US weekly. couric: (to cameraman) stop the tape. i need to pummel this woman with my microphone.
Michelann Michelann 9 years
Em, I'd like to think so, too. But when Couric asked for other examples of McCain pushing for more regulations (besides the most important, relevant example) it sounded a bit like she was just trying to make Palin look stupid.

I'd like to think that the media is beyond trying to "dupe" Palin at this point. Or so, I'm hoping.
Michelann Michelann 9 years
Steph, she probably should have had an answer. However, if Couric just asked her "List off some S.C. cases other than Roe v. Wade", it would be a really strange question. The article is introduced as "Gotcha questions or crucial questions". If she was just asked to list some cases, it would seem more like they were trying to make her look stupid than trying to find out about her positions on issues.

Most of the people I know can discuss at least a few Supreme Court cases/decisions. Between school, the news, and the internet, you should be familar with at least a few cases old or new.

1. Go Google! 2. Roe v. Palin 3. Only reason voters are now split is because media hype machine/bush admin has scared the crap out of us all to the point where some people are begging "yes please congress, take our money to bail out rich stupid greedy people!"
