Fifty years ago it was miscegenation, today it's gays. I wonder what the big marriage debate will be 50 years from now.

According to Gawker, Mapscroll(?) did the map using Nate Silver's info - here's how he explained Iowa: "As for Iowa? According to Silver, an amendment to the state constitution to ban same-sex marriage in that state would require passage in two consecutive sessions of the state legislature, and then would have to be ratified by the voters. So it couldn't come up for a vote at the ballot box until at least 2012. According to Silver's regression model, such a ban might pass in Iowa until 2013 - but who knows; maybe 3 years of being neighbors with happily married gay couples without having their social fabric torn asunder will cause Iowans' tolerance clock to speed up just a bit."

That;s what I was thinking, telewyo. Clearly already off.

Um...isn't that map already wrong because it's showing Iowa as not allowing it until 2013 but as of a week ago Iowa does?

I'm with hypno on this. Can we talk about something else besides the gay issue? It will most likely come in some shape or fashion, but it won't be today, and it won't be decided by the people on this site. Let's move on.

I realize gay marriage is a hot topic but damn how many posts have there been in the past day, and I’m gay. It is a slow moving wave but I think we can all agree whether we support it or not that it is inevitable. My guiltiest spending pleasure is I love a night of concert and fine dinning. I have a little stash just for that. Yes, I do believe the mom should be allowed to harvest her sons sperm. The technology is there and it’s only securing what would most likely have been the inevitable if her son were still alive and that is grandchildren. This doesn’t freak me out in the least. Now if you really want to get freaked out just wait till people want to clone their dead children now that’s a bit maccob for me. Hey we have bulldogs that ride skate boards and mutts that ride surf boards in California.

That map makes a strong argument for a federal move on gay marriage. Don't let my kid find out how much Sasha gets!

"Should mo be allowed to harvest her dead son's sperm?" Oh HELL NO That boy wanted a son, not to spread his genes but to be able to give him a fulfilled life. To be present and to raise him. Not to have his sperm sent out to some egg donor and surrogate to have his mom feel like she has a part of him. this is just plain GROSS
