Glad Kennedy is up and about. The fact that the man even went back to work shows his dedication to what he does - the guy is no slacker. In the same shoes I am not sure most people would display such fortitude in the face of a deadly tumor and resulting surgery. He is now in his NINTH term and has a reputation of being one of the most successful cross-party dealmakers as well as being one of the secondmost senior senate member, and an icon of the Democratic party, of course because he has championed such causes as civil rights (of LBGT included), the environment, education, raising the minimum wage, healthcare, and preserving financial aid for university students. I wasn't keen on any of the US politicians sticking their noses into Northern Ireland though (including Clinton), because I think that was their problem to remedy. Having lived in the UK for many years, you saw and heard more about this from a direct level and the simple truth is, Irish heritage aside (I can understand his concern as the Kennedys were Irish but..), no American politician was going to fix it, or ever will. That must come from the Northern Irish themselves. Things in 2001 when I lived nearby were actually more tense than in 2007 or so, when I left. I hope things continue to improve.

You're not worth it.

Well you're clearly on the prostitute killer's bandwagon, Stephley, so that's a dead end. Perhaps we can debate how un-American hate crime legislation is?

"all the good Kennedys were killed in the 60's" I would be ashamed to put forth such an ugly, hate-filled statement, even with the anonymity of a user name. It's always clear that you'd 'rather believe' things you'd rather believe.
beavis667 beavis667 8 years
Actually Stephley, if the people of Massachusetts have been in favor of his work on immigration reform, housing policy, and as I noted further hate crime legislation implementation, it doesn't speak well of them. I'd rather believe that the people of MS have been duped in believing senators are in Washington to "work for them" rather than further the prospects of the union, and because all the good Kennedys were killed in the 60's. Yes, Kennedy is one of the best examples I can think of in favor of term limits for Congress.

Beavis, it is clear you know little of Senator Kennedy's work in the Senate if you honestly think the people of Massachusetts have kept him there for 40 years because they liked his brothers.

Ah, we get hate crimes and Kennedy in the same group of news, two of my least favorite things. It was Kennedy that pushed the gender-identity hate crimes legislation (H.R. 1592 / S. 1105 Matthew Shepherd Act) into a defense spending bill in 2007. There shouldn't be hate crimes designation in any of our laws as it defies the spirit of "equal protection under the law". That is, if I am murdered by a neutral party, my murderer should get the same punishment as the murderer who acts as such because he is killing a minority out of bigotry. Is my murder less important? It is with hate crimes. Thought policing like that is such a joke. The act of trying to thought police, and then making certain crimes matter more for some victims than others is as bad as committing those crimes in the first place. Kennedy by trying to inject a hate crimes legislation into a defense spending bill is such a garbage move by a man who has held his job for way too long, based on the good name of his deceased brothers.

Thats pretty amazing that Kennedy is back already! Thats amazing to me. Huckabee. really?
Jillness Jillness 8 years
Huckabee is an interesting "personality", but I don't think he will ever have a chance at being President. He is just too extreme, and clearly doesn't know how to play well with others. I do think he has a role as a person who stirs things up for the GOP, though.

What is it with the people who think that hate crimes are okay?! Would they like to have the same things done to them?! Its way past your time to grow up... :( Huckabee I'm pointing at you too. Grow up and stop being a sore loser.

Why Huck why? You lost, get over it. Romney lost as well, and he's going on. I agree with the sentiment that this is very small of you, and it will come back to bite you.

I hate that people like Diane Sawyer give people like Ashley Dupre so much time and attention. They really have nothing to offer.

Bill Ayers interview is interesting, but what I find more interesting are the people who are commenting that remember that time vividly there accounts make you wonder. This is the second interview I have read and I have seen one that Mr. Ayers has done for ABC in his own words. I would rather have that then speculation, or he said she said; that way I can come up with my own mind.
