Though June's Harper's Bazaar interview with Bristol Palin is meant to be a lighthearted look at America's favorite teen mom, the cautionary tale of teen pregnancy lies beneath nearly everything Bristol says.
On being pregnant during the 2008 election: "It was kind of humiliating. . . . Great, I'm 17 years old, I'm 40 pounds overweight with a big belly on me, all my friends are at school watching this on the news. This kind of sucks."
On her life's unexpected turn: "I thought I would be somewhere warm at college with my friends," she says. "But that was definitely not possible with having Tripp."
To see what she has to say about life as a single mom, keep reading.
On life as a single mom: "I don't ever have time for friends or anything like that. . . . It's just like, right, crap, there is a hockey game tonight that I want to go to but I can't. Or, I do have to go to work today, because I've got bills to pay."
To be fair, things are also looking up for Bristol. She recently bought a townhouse in Anchorage, and her days working at a dermatologist's office are broken up with taping commercials, appearing on TV shows, and visting talk shows like Oprah, which can command up to $30,000 an appearance. But all this requires her to talk about how having a baby ruined her life.
A word of unsolicited advice for Bristol: she could make more if she told us what she really thought!
