China Urges Court to Rethink Sudan Arrest Warrant
China urged the International Criminal Court to rethink its arrest warrant for Sudan's president Tuesday in a sign of Beijing's skittishness over its already difficult relationship with the African country. China, which buys two-thirds of Sudan's petroleum exports, has been repeatedly criticized for not using its economic leverage to apply more pressure on the government of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to end a civil war in his country's Darfur region.

I hate to say it, but this is where unilateralism has its advantages. Instead of getting a global consensus get rid of this monster, we could have ended this years ago.

I tend to agree with rac. Although, Milosevic went down without a fight, because (in my opinion) he was still convinced he didn't do anything wrong. I know it's a different situation, but I still think it has some similarities.

My money is on "going down fighting". Bloody dictators usually don't respond well to requests for grand jury appearances. Just my opinion.

Definitely, bella. I wasn't being argumentative with my oil comment, just adding it to rac's comment.

We can all agree they have something to gain. I wonder will he hide, go down fighting, or go peacefully.

Also couldn't be because China gets oil from Darfur.

Couldn't be because China is the Sudanese government's largest arms dealer.
