Clinton's Kennedy Assassination Reference: Raises Bobby's Death While Explaining Why She Stays In Race: Hillary Clinton's argument for staying in the race took a disturbing turn today. While meeting with the editorial board of South Dakota's Sioux Falls Argus-Leader, she raised the specter of assassination while discussing why she would stay in the race: "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it."

Harts, I am so mystified coming to this site and seeing people claim it's biased. Has anyone even looked at other sites? Not to be a suck up for gifts from Liberty or Citizen, (unless it works) but this is one of the most even-handed sites out there. And that goes for the commenters too. As for Hillary, I find her to be a particularly odious individual. Who would talk about assassination while running for president? It's morbid and just weird.

Hey Citizen you and Liberty are very fair and balanced. :highfive: I'm not sure what that comment was about. I think I missed something. :? But I just thought I'd tell you that.

Yes Fox is the highest rated news channel. My brother who is farther left than any lefty here, gives me a bad time about only watching Fox (and I actually watch CNN, BBC, C-span....) but it's CNN that is really only for dems. I don't see why the left keeps saying that Fox is biased when it's really CNN is biased. :irk:

There are plenty of people in the middle who watch Fox News, and plenty of conservative Dems who watch Fox News... So hey, if your candidate doesn't want their vote, thats cool, make sure he stays off Fox. But if your candidate would actually like to WIN, then they need to court the undecideds, MANY of whom watch Fox. It is the highest rated news channel you know.

Hi everybody, (especially Bookish for wondering.) We do try to balance getting as many stories as possible mentioned immediately--so that you'll have a place to debate about them like the great one going on here--with seeing how a story plays out and resonates, and writing it in greater detail. Certainly with some stories like this, there's the initial event, and then as time elapses people have space to develop opinions, and other details occur allowing us to write about them again. And we will. Thank you for all your great opinions here!

Hellary=bad. The only reason to reference RFK assassination is to say that it can happen again now. Hellary, if you thought you might gain a vote from that awful comment, you did not figure in that you could lose 20. Hellary Clinton is a terrible conniver. Now Obama can NEVER have her as VP. Go away Hellery, you and your hubbie who only wants you if you can put him back into the spotlight. Too bad. She planned her entire life, every thing she did since she was 12, to be president. Too Too bad.

I've noticed the Hillary camp has been kissing up to fox. I believe they even put one of her main talking heads in their commercial.

Well frankly Fox has been the least biased in Obama's favor. At least they hate both Democratic candidates equally.

You know its a sad sad day when we start quoting foxnews regarding democratic potential nominees.

This is what Hillary Clinton said to Time magazine: TIME: Can you envision a point at which--if the race stays this close--Democratic Party elders would step in and say, "This is now hurting the party and whoever will be the nominee in the fall"? CLINTON: No, I really can't. I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.

Did any of you see Keith Olberman's special comment. I loved it. Clinton knew exactly what she was saying. This comment was made by a Clinton supporter in New Hampshire: "As they barnstorm through New Hampshire, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and her husband are often introduced by supporters who once backed another candidate but converted to her cause. Today, in Dover, Francine Torge, a former John Edwards supporter, said this while introducing Mrs. Clinton: “Some people compare one of the other candidates to John F. Kennedy. But he was assassinated. And Lyndon Baines Johnson was the one who actually” passed the civil rights legislation." "Mrs. Clinton’s expression did not change noticeably when Ms. Torge made the comment. "

Directly from "Clinton has previously referenced the 1968 Democratic primary campaign, and Kennedy’s run, without directly mentioning his assassination."

so true hotstuff, why are world wide headlines such as these getting little show?

Oh nevermind, if you listen to the Clinton camp I'm sure she was just TIRED back in March also.
hotstuff hotstuff 8 years
And what did she have on her mind when she mentioned RFK assasination to TIME back in March?
blondie01 blondie01 8 years
she knew what she meant! Its obvious she caught herself right after she said can hear a long pause if you go to the video link bookish posted. So funny, during the pause she's probably like "oh crap, I just made a huge mistake in saying that and I, uh...nuts" she might have "meant" the Kennedy running til June thing, but I'm sure the slip had SOMETHING to do with implying a possible assassination. I mean, whether you like to believe it or not, its true. Obama has gotten many death threats, he has had extra secret service with him for about a year or so now. "You should vote for me because Obama has a high risk of getting killed!" is probably a great slogan for her now since she's used all the ones in the book. I'm sure she'd like a VP spot now...
