DVD Explains How to Fight the Local Gay Agenda

Eureka Springs has become the San Francisco of Arkansas, according to the American Family Association. The AFA's latest DVD — They're Coming to Your Town — teaches unsuspecting Christian communities how to prevent gays from taking over their towns. If you're so inclined, you can purchase the DVD in a five-pack and distribute it to your friends or Sunday school teachers.

Salon points out that the besieged town's city council recently implemented a domestic partnership registry for gay couples after a unanimous vote, thus making Eureka a great example of the homosexual threat AFA seeks to combat. I guess only straight people can be part of American families?

Is this extreme? Yes, however some people want a TRADITIONAL small town. Some people want a conservative environment and they have every right to fight for that. I'm from North Carolina and I love the small town atmosphere. I'm living in NYC for work and I hate some of the intolerant liberalism I see here. If people in my hometown did something like this, given what I have to live with everyday in NYC, I almost wouldn't blame them. I have no problem with the gay community however small town conservative religious folk look at it as opening a door to countless other things they don't want and they have a right to their beliefs too!

Disgusting and ridiculous but, sadly, not surprising.

True-Song True-Song 8 years do I say this. I'm not saying I don't believe you, because I totally do. But I would be so curious to hear from one of the gay men who staged this coup, just to hear his version of things. Because I'm imagining many versions, and they are all hilarious.

They didn't try to make us "gay", but the straight men were pushed towards the door literally. We were told "This is our chapter now. You can either deal with it, or get out. I'd rather see you leave." Now so you know, this is a co-ed service fraternity based on the fundamentals of the Boy Scout Oath and Law. They seeked admission, and went through our pledge period, and were then accepted with open arms. After becoming members, they decided that the chapter was too much about service, and not enough about the gay culture. Most of us remained members, and after a couple semesters they either flunked out, or lost interest, and we got our chapter back.

Was that when someone tried to take advantage of you and make you gay, in the fraternity? As Bill Maher said, "No gay fraternities. Apparently, there are now dozens of them. Why bother? If you're gay, you already have a much better way of bonding with another man than the chug-a-lug. Fraternities are for fucking assholes, not for fucking assholes."

I can understand what he is saying though. When a minority group first gains a little power, the first thing that happens is they work to change the make-up of the group. It's happened within my church, and my fraternity. The problem isn't that they come in and take charge, it's that they come in, take charge, and then ignore the majority. I do agree that this video may be a bit much though.

Wow....Just Wow! I agree that everyone has a right to their opinion. But this is the same kinda crap people used on the Jews, Italians, and other immigrants coming to America. Might as well add the "darkies and spics" to their list as well. They would do horrible things to the neighborhood! While we in the gay community def. have some unique sub cultures, no more so than they straight community. I mean honestly, the Macarena?

I think its disgusting that people that claim to be Christians(who are taught to love thy neighbor, and judge not lest ye be judged) go around spreading this hate speech. Nothing good can come out of this. it will only lead to a witch hunt. And I think it was Beavis who mentioned somehting about age od consent in Canada(i know this is a random side topic, but...) there is only one age of consent in Canada...and thats 16. so Im not sure where you got your info from

This isn't serious, right? That is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, I'm not driving anyone out of the town I live in, but I'd like to get people like that out of it.

Hmm, great, I can pick up a set of these for last minute Christmas gifts! Spread a little hate for the holiday! Dear villagers (with pitch forks) of Eureka Springs and other places "known for their Christianity" please understand most of us don't want to live in your shithole towns anyway.

I'll gladly judge this video and those who support it. It's disgusting and YES it is hate. Whether there is a sliver thin veil of Christianity hiding that hate is irrelevant.

This is know this would be the funniest thing I saw all week if it wasn't true, if it wasn't made with serious intent. So hey, I'll just say it. I am making a judgement, and this thing is stupid, its heinous, silly, ignorant and STUPID.

Beavis, I was responding to Hainan's logic. By comparing trying to get homosexuals out of a neighborhood to getting, say, drug users, tweakers, and criminals out of a neighborhood, she seemed to be equating homosexuality--a sexual preference that does not inherently cause harm to oneself or others, as heavy drug addiction and criminal activity do, and does not inherently encourage and sustain criminal activity, as drug addiction does--with those inherently harmful other things, and seemed to be equating homosexual people with drug addicts and criminals. That was the logic that I took issue with. People will always be defined and grouped by what they do. What I dislike is the false logic of putting a group of people whose common trait doesn't inherently threaten or cause harm to others in the same category as groups of people whose common trait does, all for the sake of making the faulty argument that "if this [harmless] group can move in, then eventually so will these [harmful] ones." That argument, which Hainan brought up in her role as devil's advocate, holds as little water for me as the false argument that if gay people are allowed to marry, soon people will be marrying goats. Sorry for the extra-long post, but I know I might not have made myself clear and wanted to clarify.

No, clearly I did not.

Now Stephley, did you judge me there?
stephley stephley 8 years
Actually, I left it open to anyone in their bedroom: I didn't specify homosexual acts because of the laundry list of things that you mentioned that you disapprove of.
beavis667 beavis667 8 years
Jude, it could be argued that homosexuals are a group or minority who are defined by what they do. Stephley in her post just above yours defines homosexuals based on what they do. So part of the "logic problem" that you allude to is that folks are discriminating against homosexuals based on what they do. And we do that all the time. The law does that. Society does that. So is it then just coming down to your logic vs theirs?
Jude-C Jude-C 8 years
"maybe to them it is no different then trying to keep drug addicts/meth heads/criminals out of their community.: Well then, "they" have a logic problem, because gay people are not comparable to drug addicts, meth heads, or other criminals who commit crimes and pose the threat of active harm to others.

I make judgments, I've discussed what I think with others, but I've never said 'here's how we get that person out of town, out of the neighborhood...' And it's disingenuous to pretend that either of us thinks that all personal judgments are equal. Saying I want recycling in my neighborhood is not equal to discussing ways to keep people who do things in their bedrooms that I might not like out of my neighborhood.
