Dances With Horses

Okay, I didn't know this was even a sport. It looks more like a pony par-tay! Any minute now, this horse is gonna do the "Running Man" and the "Sprinkler." Just do yourself a favor and ignore the doofball commentators in the background. Instead, play this in your head while watching.

I've got to say I found nothing humorous about the video (and not really even the choice of music - nor the commentators - they were pretty standard "sports" commentators) ... and was actually in awe of the talent and workmanship in their routine. I know a little about horses and shows and know this is way out of the league of anything I've ever participated in. This was very cool to watch and I am glad you put it up there for us.

Thanks for the info, lilegwene. You know, there's a fine line between homage and ridicule, and I'd say (comments about the commentators notwithstanding) this was closer to homage. Basically, that horse was busting so many moves that it wouldn't have surprised me if it started doing dances I cannot do--namely the running man ;) Having said that, I am gratified that more people have stood up for this horse than they did for "poor" Ann Coulter! I'm sure I'm gonna start hearing from that contingent shortly..! Or maybe not.

It's called "dressage freestyle" as opposed to traditional dressage. In traditional dressage, the horse and rider follow a set pattern. In freestyle, the rider chooses music and while there are manuevers he/she must incorporate, they get to decide when and how to execute them. I compete in dressage at a much lower level, so I can see why Elliot responded so defensively. It's kind of offensive when something you love is ridiculed!! On the other side... I can see how it can be considered amusing to people who are not familiar with horseback competitions. I'd even say this one is odd -- weird choice of music!

:ROTFL: It's hard to obey the rules and play nice with classic comments like that. I'm sorry Giggle- that's a hell of an occupational hazard. If it makes you feel better, I think that dancing horse is TOTALLY FREAKING LAME!!! :ROTFL:

Ah ha ha Elliot was really pissed there. I think Elliot's comment is even funnier than the actual video! "this is more of a sport than any other... wake up and watch this without being stoned"

Whoa, there, Elliot. I appreciate your comment and your love of this sport, but you do realize this is a humor site, right? If anything, my jokes about this are a tribute to how fabulous this horse is that it seems capable of amazing feats. And as for commentators--they're fair game in any sport.

I do not understand how you can be so completely ignorant. Judging by your ignorance on this horses performance, and you clearly stated it, you know NOTHING about this sport. when infact, I can guarentee you will never have someone care about you as much as people care about this horse. You will never work as hard as that man for ANYTHING you do in your life. If you would wake up and even watch this without being stoned, you would realize that this horse and rider are highly trained athletes, performing for THEMSELVES instead of other people. You should learn to respect things you don't know, or atleast make an attempt to learn about them before you try to ridicule them. You would them realize, maybe even slightly, that this pair is an amazing part of a top winning team. And this "pony partay" earns them tens of thousands of dollars. As for your "running man" comment, these movements are Grand Prix level, they take years to successfully maneuver them, and this horse is very young for this. It is amazing this horse has that much talent. and the "doofball" commenters just happen to be amazingly informed trainers. This is more of a sport then any other. You are move physical in this then any other sport. Don't believe me? Go try it. I promise you your attitude will greatly change on the subject. RAY
