Dear Poll: Do You Carry Protection?

Over the last few months, I've given you a plethora of information about all things birth control. We all know by now that condoms are the easiest way to keep yourself safe from pregnancy and STIs, but interrupting to ask the guy you're with if he has one can not only ruin the moment, but it can also be incredibly awkward. For some reason, I think most women feel it's the man's job to supply the condoms, but in this day and age, many women come prepared just in case! So ladies, when you're dating someone and sex is inevitable, tell me, do you bring condoms with you or do you rely on him to be prepared?

Well, I always carry the Pill, which technically is my protection. But I also have condoms just in case. It sounds odd, but if one of my friends comes to me, I'd rather supply her (or him) a condom or two then leave it to them. I like my friends to be safe :)

I'm married but for PG-protection, I'm packing the IUD.

I feel that if women are not in a committed relationship and believe in casual sex then yes they should carry condoms. I only chose no because I've been with the same guy for 4 1/2 years and I am so OVER condoms. Ladies need to be prepared because in the heat of the moment you don't want that regret of saying "eh f*** it!" and not using one.

I've been in a relationship for 2 years, so we just keep them in the nightstand. If a spontaneous situation arises somewhere other than home, I just make him go elsewhere. :P

No. I live with my boyfriend of a year and we don't use a condom anymore. I do carry my BirthControl pills everywhere with me though :)

I've never done it, but I don't think it's a bad idea (especially since most guys put it in their wallet - which I believe will ruin the condom if it's in there for too long).

I know it's not really the subject BUT.. "incredibly awkward" to ask the guy if he has a condom? Maybe we should also focus on the fact that if you can make out with a naked guy then you shouldn't feel awkward asking if he has a condom! To answer the initial question, I don't sleep with strangers so I usually have condom with me if I'm dating someone, and I don't if I'm not. (more because I don't like the idea that guys only should be in charge of condoms, let's be honest they're useful for us girls too!) However my problem was I often read it's not good to keep condoms in your wallet as this may damage them..

Yes. I carry my preferred brand of condoms in a little hello kitty bag with other emergency stuff, like tampons, hair clips, and toothbrush kit. I think I keep these as a backup in case we run out at home or are out hiking or something and wanna have fun.

I'm std free and I'm in a serious relationship, but I'm not on the pill so contraspetives are a must. I generally leave condoms it up to him, but I've started using these great little spermicidal films that are only 6% chance of pregnancy. These I do carry around with me. No, not quite as safe as a condom, but much better than using a condom.

I'm in a monogamous relationship, and I'm on birth control pills, but we always use a condom anyways (I'm not wonderful about taking it right on time every day...) so I carry a couple in my purse with me whenever I know we'll be seeing each other.

it seems monogamy is the way. one partner, birth control. i'm the same. i've never needed a condom when i'm out, and i like it that way.

Nope... I don't think my fiance would be thrilled if I was out for a night with the girls with a stock of condoms in my purse! We are both tested and clean, so we don't need to carry them around. I never carried them back in my single days either though, since I could NEVER bring myself to a one night stand... I'm too old fashioned!

I generally have at least one condom in my purse. I try to throw it away every month or so, but I honestly usually use the ones in my night stand.

I think my boyfriend would get suspicious if I started carrying condoms around.

I usually take it upon myself to buy condoms and other forms of birth control, and I carry a couple condoms with me.
