This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, and our own FitSugar has been running an important series of posts throughout the week about this serious health crisis.

Even if we're fortunate enough to be healthy, many of us still struggle -- and mightily -- with body image and beauty issues.
Many of us spend a good deal of time worrying about our looks and comparing ourselves to other women, whether they're in magazines, on TV, or across the street.

Even if we appropriately esteem our minds and our hearts, our friendships and families, it can be trickier to feel as sure about our body, our behind or our face. Let me know how comfortable you are in your own skin.

While I'm very happy with my face, I am almost constantly upset about my weight. I'm at the higher end of my weight fluctuation right now due to a bad breakup, but it's been almost 6 months since then and I'm getting fed up. I want to lose 10 lbs this spring/summer, hopefully I can get up the motivation to do it.

I also happen to be dating a guy who is very into looks and critical of all different types of women, so as a result, I am more aware than I want to be about how I look (not that he critizes the way I look, but the way he critizes others gets me thinking about how i really appear in his eyes...) I wish that I could throw away all the magazines and stuff, but then with this guy I am dating who is UP on all that stuff, I feel like I can't afford to fall behind.

I have what I lovingly refer to as "the tum". If I were famous, they would always have one of those "baby bump" circles around my stomach with an arrow pointing to it, wondering if I was pregnant. I had some eating problems in high school and being in sports helped me get over the problems. I stopped thinking about my body in terms of how it looked and started thinking about what it could do for me. I ended up loving what my body could do for me athletically... run, jump, dive etc. When I wasn't eating much, I was skinnier, but I was also slower and frailer and had a lot less fun playing sports.

I am sllllloooooowwwwllllyyy becoming ok with what my body looks like. I need to lose a few and tone up, but I have to accept what I am now before I can change it.

I have never been so uncomfortable with my body as I am now. I don't know how to get back to that time when I was at least moderately happy with the way I looked.

Well said, Bonne! I'm very happy in my body. Granted it's not perfect but I know that I am flexible enough to do any yoga pose. My legs not be thin but there's a lot of muscle in them that helps me run a mile in under 7 minutes.

i rarely think about my body or my looks. i'm so busy with my girls (especially the autism stuff) that what i look like doesn't enter intot he pix. when i do make an effort with my apperance i am frustrated with how long everything takes (shower, wash hair, make-up, dry hair, etc) that i'm glad i don't have time to think about it more often. but i'm pleased with the results. i use to LOVE makeup and all the fun products there were to be girly with. stage of life i guess.
