Dear Poll: Who Is the Glue in Your Family?

Family relationships can be tough, but there's usually one person who has the ability to bring everyone together no matter what the circumstances may be. I'm that person in my family, maybe because I'm the oldest, but I'm curious to know about your family dynamic so tell me, who is the glue in your family unit?

My grandma is definitely the glue... which was not an option! Hello? ;)

Other: none. My family hasn't been together in the same room for, oh, 7 years now? We just don't have a lot in common, so we'd rather hang out with friends than each other.

I think that we all keep each other together my mom and I are extremely close, and so with my brother. So all of us do our part when it comes to our immediate family.

My sister. The only thing I have in common with my parents is our love for her.

I have a very mean and dysfunctional family. Not everyone is mean, but most are. I am the only person that talks to everyone no matter how far flung they are. So whenever anyone talks to my crazy mom or sister I usually get a call to alert me that a ripple may be rising.

My Dad was that person until he died, then it was my Mom. Then she died. It took awhile for my family to regroup after that, but now it's definitely me that is the glue.

In my immediate family--no one. :P We're pretty dysfunctional. Though I like to think I'm the best at keeping everyone just a bit more sane (even if it means being the one willing to listen to this person and that person b!tch and moan).

We try to stay in touch, even though I live about 100 miles from the rest of my family. I'm still the one that's in charge of getting people together for things...I think if I didn't call my parents, they'd never call me. On holidays, I'm the one that sets up the time and date for everyone to meet up and stuff.

My family has no glue, probably why I haven't seen any of them in so long.

My dad is, but since he lives in another city (because of work), I currently am the glue.

well my mom tried very hard and she was successful for a long time, but my father was a strong opposing force, he would always try to work us up against the other. so we just kinda go with the flow now.

at the moment i am...since my brothers are still going to school and i'm stable in my life now....but i can't wait to relinquish that responsibility to someone else

I used to be, but now I'm pretty sure it's my dad. He's kind of like a mediator/counselor when the rest of us have issues with each other. My mom is a nut - she's the force that repells everyone.

I was just thinking about this. I think it's my married-with-children sister. The combination of her children and her "people-pleaser" personality keep us from drifting off. It's kind of sad.

My mom is definitely the glue in our family, she keeps all the siblings close as well as the extended family. Through her everyone stays connected.

Ever since I moved out for college at age 18 my family has fallen apart... and its great how they always blame me moving away on it.
