Dear Poll: Would You Rather Give or Receive?

The older I get, the more enjoyment I take out of giving gifts verses receiving them. Sure, it's always fun to open presents of your own, but seeing the joy and excitement on your loved ones face when they see what you bought them is a feeling like no other. Especially when you've spent countless hours trying to find the perfect gift!

Since you're probably doing your fair share of both today, tell me, would you rather give or receive?

Giving gifts is much more enjoyable to me. I love the feeling of finding the perfect gift and seeing the persons face light up when they open the gift. It's an incredible and joyous feeling! :) (And even if I can't see the person while their opening the's still an awesome feeling! I'm thinking about the times I've bought gifts for "Christmas Angels", children whose parents or care takers couldn't afford Christmas gifts, so you pick their name off a tree, usually at a mall, and it gives you their likes and sizes.)

You know, I used to say 'receiving' and that anyone who said giving was lying :) But ever since a few years ago, when I started sitting down and putting thought into everyone's gift...when I just KNEW they would love it and I did a really good job, giving became more fun. Especially because whenever I have a present in front of me, my imagination makes it something it could never be- like a car, or a trip to hawaii, or something else equally ridiculous :) so I get super psyched up for something unrealistic. So definitely giving, I love to see the genuine look of "Wow, this is really cool'.

I prefer giving. I get excited over giving rather than receiving. It would be nice to receive, but at the end of the day, I'd rather someone else be excited and happy and whatever, than me.

I love to give and the only person I really expect gifts from would be my boyfriend.

Both! But I said giving. I love shopping for people though, I love when I've been thinking forever of something to get them, and then I finally think of the perfect present and then they love it when they finally open it.

who really doesnt like getting presents?? :-) but with that said, I think I like giving more. I HATE opening presents in front of people when its something I dont really like...I'm a bad faker! And I love coming up with 'the perfect gift' for people, sometimes it's hard though.

I love to give. I don't know why. Receiving is nice, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable, for some reason.

I'm with crayolasky, it wouldn't be Christmas if you didn't do both. I was shrieking with excitement over the gift my sister gave me, so that was awesome... and I almost made my mom cry with the gift I gave her. It was great, too. :) I couldn't do Christmas without both.

Both! It wouldn't be Christmas if you didn't do both. But between the two, I prefer to give - I would much rather see someone enjoying what I gave them, even though I love receiving as well:)

Receive. The element of surprise is so fun. Plus, I suck at giving gifts. I never know what to get anyone, and I end up stressing myself out over it.

Give! I know it sounds like cliche BS half the time but I really do love it. :) The looks on their faces make all the stress and wrapping and brainstorming all worth it. So with that said I receive my own little joy by giving anyway. MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU GUYS :D

I'm more afraid of reacting badly to a crappy gift and hurting the giver's feelings.

Prezzies! I don't care how awful it sounds. I'd rather get than give. Especially since there's always this anxiety with whether the person will actually like the gift I've picked. I'm not totally selfish, no one I know can STAND to wrap gifts but I enjoy it so I take over. Still you asked and I'm honest. Gimmie Gimmie Gifties.

my sister and I were wrapping presents yesterday and I was just telling her that it sounds so cheesy but I actually like giving presents more than receiving. I'm not gonna lie, I love getting presents for christmas, especially cuz its my bday too, but I just like seeing my little sisters faces and my bf's face when they open gifts I gave them.

I have a really hard time giving. I'm in that "middle" phase when it comes to age in my family. All of my younger brothers, sisters, and cousins are mostly under the age of 10, and my aunts, uncles, etc. are all over the age of 40. The adults in my family have told me not to worry about presents for themselves or the kids, so... I'm left receiving. I feel terrible but even if I had the money to give gifts to either group, I'm not sure what I would get!

Both? I like giving as much as I enjoy receiving. I wouldn't like a christmas where I gave and didn't get ANYTHING. :p

As much as I love getting gifts, I love seeing other people satisfied with something I got them. I have to few friends and we don't see extended family so it's nice to see the people closest to me happy.
