Dear Poll: Would You Wear a "Single" Ring?

Dear Poll: Would You Wear a "Single" Ring?

When you're engaged or married, you might wear a ring that shows the world you're spoken for, but what about the single people? Couldn't single people wear a ring to declare that they're proud to be playing the field? Singelringen is a company that has developed a ring to do just that. Not only does this indicate your self-confidence about being unattached, but it also alerts single men that you're available and relationship free.

Since there are so many people out there who don't wear a ring when they're engaged or married, I think it's a pretty genius idea. To all you single ladies out there, what I want to know is, would you be into wearing a ring that announces to the world that you're single and ready to mingle?

ncsouthpaw has brought up an interesting point. It's true that some women wear wedding rings to fend off unwanted approaches and some men take their wedding rings off. An acquaintance recently pointed out that wearing a Singelringen interferes with the convenience of saying no by making up a story about a relationship that you aren't in. So in effect, Singelringen is an honesty ring. It's for people who feel good about themselves, know who they are and are willing to tell the truth.

i voted no but i do wear a ring since i an happily single and am trying to keep the guys away. especially the creepy ones. for example this new weird old balding guy came in my coffeehouse today and i try to be nice and strike up conversations with new people but he was little too much. he was talking about something and all of sudden he goes " and im staring at this ring on your finger wondering if youre married, engaged or just trying to keep people like me away" i looked up and told him its to keep freaks like you away then walked back inside.

whats the difference if married men or attached individuals take off their ring to mingle anyway.. i think a "single" ring is pointless..

If you don't have a wedding ring on, you're already saying you're single - but for all anybody knows you could be spending your nights with your face in a quart of ice cream wondering where your love life went. I think it's really cool to be wearing a ring that says you've got your groove on & you like yourself NOW.

I'd own one if I were single. I wear all kinds of rings and jewelry depending on how I'm feeling on a given day. This is a beautiful piece with a fun story, another outlet through which to express yourself when and how you choose to do so.

If I were single I would definietly wear this ring! I think it's a sign of feeling empowered by your single status, not a victim of it. Besides at that, it's my favorite color :-)

I actually bought the ring about a week and a half ago. I love it and have started a blog about my new single adventures wearing a Singelringen. I have been showing my ring off as a way to shout loud and proud that I am single. Some of my “coupled” friends have even asked me where to get the ring…they are jealous cause the ring is HOT! Also ladies it makes for a great conversation piece…what better way to let the sexy guy you just met know that you are single?!?!

I would definitely wear it. Aren't we supposed to feel good about ourselves? Besides, it looks like it goes with everything.

Cool comment sgdish. I agree that Singelringen is very personal. I have heard people say things like they feel the ring indicates their love for themselves or that they are already a complete person. In a world that is mostly couple oriented, I think it is nice to have something specifically about yourself.

To me, jewelry should be personal. I wear my jewelry for me, not for other people. My wedding rings indicate my love and commitment to my husband, but shouldn't be about me announcing that to the world. By the way, wedding rings don't necessarily keep men from hitting on, I'd say if the ring signifies something to the wearer, then that's the purpose.

silly and pointless for sure. I wear a huge, antique costume ring on my right ring finger (just b/c that's where it fits best)... and guys have never assumed I'm single b/c of it. One guy I dated for some time actually thought (at first) it was an engagement ring b/c in his home country the engagement ring is worn on the right hand.

Being alone and single is not always that easy every day!! So I'd really hate to see a ring which reminds me that when I'm down!!! ;)

Actually, come to think of it. If you look at personal ads the ratio is about 95% "man seeks woman" and 5% "Woman seeks man". So maybe guys should wear this :p

No, I wouldn't. When I'm single (which admittedly isn't often, I'm somewhat of a serial monogamist, don't stay single long...) I don't really "advertise" it. And what about situations where you don't want to be approached? If you forget to take off your "single" ring and try to blow off a guy with the "I have a boyfriend" line, he's gonna know you're full of it... lol

And this is supposed to announce to the world that you're single HOW, exactly? When I got separated from my first husband, I felt weird not wearing a ring on my left ring finger, so I got a silver ring with flowers on it to wear. I wasn't announcing anything; it just felt natural to wear a ring on that finger. Now, I'm married again so it doesn't matter, of course.

I think I would. If it didn't look tacky than yeah.
kurniakasih kurniakasih 9 years
Not single, and if I were, it'd depend on the look of the ring, if it's tacky, I'm not wearing 'em :p
demeter demeter 9 years
No. I don't want to announce that to the world!

This seems a little silly, mostly because most guys aren't all that perceptive.
