Do Tell: What Language Do You Wish You Could Speak?

I'm always very impressed by people who can speak multiple languages fluently. In my battle to learn French, which started in high school, I've often felt like Joey from Friends, who struggles to learn French for an acting part. In that episode, which I've posted for you here, Joey tries his best, but can't do better than speaking French-sounding gibberish. Since today is International Translation Day, tell me: if you could speak a foreign language fluently, which one would it be?

My mother tongue is spanish and I love it! I learned italian when I was little xD and well, I speak english as well. I am a decent french speaker but sometimes I get messed up with italian. Although I don't speak Portuguese or Romanian I understand them perfectly thanks to the fact I know 4 romance language and my FRICKIN 5 years of latin! I am so grateful to my beloved nuns for that. So let's see: Spanish, italian, english and french. Now, I know some japanese, enough to get a taxi, order food and ask for the restroom. Animals, colors, stuff like that. I would kill to speak japanese. I need to speak Hebrew and Russian. I just need to. It's my last semester in college so I am going to devote myself to learn one or the other. I wish I could speak arab, most of my friends speak arab in Venezuela (huge colony) and I always thought it sounded so beautiful and mysterious. Love it!

Dutch. My husband is Dutch and I can't speak hardly a word. I would like to talk to his mother without him as the interpreter. It doesn't work to follow him around and ask how do you say this or that. This Christmas I will have to invest in Rosetta stone since there is not one college or school that teaches it in this God forsaken city.

I don't see any comments demanding that people know English in other countries. :puzzled: I thought it was common knowledge that it's considered rude to "demand of people to know it." That comment seems out of left field.

Albanian - my boyfriend and his family speak it. Besides, it's the only language in its family left, so it would be cool to know such a unique language.

I like how Russian sounds so I guess it would be it. But since I'm already struggling with English, I doubt I'll ever learn to speak Russian ;P Btw, International Translation Day...? Wow, I had no clue we had an International Translation Day ;D

I'd love to speak Polish. My boyfriends family are Polish and they speak it a lot in front of me. I know a few words but I'd like to be able to communicate better with them.

I'm Dutch and I'm fluent in both Dutch, English and German. But I'd love to be able to speak Danish. Also I'd love to speak French but after 3 years of French class I kinda gave up. French and I just don't get along.

There are many languages I would love to speak fluently. If I had to choose one I think it would be Latin. I heard that it is easier to learn other languages and understand them better if you learned Latin. However, if that isn't true then I would love to speak Italian fluently even though everyone and their mom (seriously) wishes I would speak Spanish fluently.

I would also like to learn to speak Korean so I know what the ladies at the nail place are saying. I know they are always talking about me and laughing!! :p

I took French 3 years in middle school and 3 years in high school, but now that I haven't taken a class in 3 years my french is absolutely terrible. I would like to be able to speak it fluently, it's a really beautiful language. But I think from here it's only going to get worse, lol.
