Do Tell: What Song Did You Dance to at Your Wedding?

Songs like "At Last," "Unforgettable," and "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" are popular first-dance songs at weddings, and while I'm all for using a traditional love song as the first dance, I think stepping it up a notch is also a fun way to kick off the celebration. Though I don't think I'd have the nerve to do something like the couple below, I would be the first one on my feet rooting them on! So in the spirit of wedding season, do tell: What song did you dance to at your wedding?

"If I Ain't Got You." by Alicia Keys. Starts with the words: Some people live for the fortune Some people live just for the fame Some people live for the power yeah Some people live just to play the game Some people think that the physical things Define what's within I've been there before But that life's a bore So full of the superficial .............. Beautiful song.

We danced to "I Cross My Heart" by George Strait. I had wanted that as my first dance song for as long I could remember, and it worked out that he really liked it, too!

i'm definitely going to go to the route of Brad Paisley maybe, "two people fell in love" or "she's everything"

Our song is technically "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith so we'll probably use that... but these are great ideas!

My husband and I danced to "I Loved Her First" by Heartland with my dad standing on the edge of the dance floor watching... It was the sweetest thing to see him standing there in his dress blues (Retired LT. Col. US Army.)

I'm not getting married anytime soon, but I've had to compile many a music playlist for people's weddings, so I know I'd pick one of these: my favourite book - stars save room - john legend (my bff actually use this for her first dance, i've always loved it) 1,2,3,4 - feist (before apple killed it!!) la mer - kevin kline (from french kiss - love it!) i'd definitely want something cheerful and upbeat rather than something slow and too romantic - it makes it easier for other people to join in 1/2 way through. and for the grand entrance: better together - jack johnson just like heaven / close to me - the cure a beautiful night in oslo - billie the vision & the dancers around the world 0 daft punk (haha)

dootsie, here's an idea if you want to invite people onto the dance floor. Let close friends and family know before hand, and then when you want people to start dancing, break away from your husband a bit and start waving people onto the dance floor to join you. Then when your close friends and family start dancing, others will follow.

Ha, I'm like Liss, our( by our I mean my husband and me) is a Nine Inch Nails song.. I'd still rock out to it at the wedding, but maybe later in the evening when everyone is asleep. But we didn't go for the big wedding so there was no dancing. I'd love to open with something fun, but my husband doesn't dance.

Is it bad to ask people to start dancing halfway through the first dance? The song my feller and I want is pretty long, and there's no way we're going to make everyone sit through the whole thing. At the same time, though, there's no way we're going to just cut it off--the end is the best! How would you even do that? Tell a select few people to get up on a particular cue or something?

That video was hilarious!!! I love it, but I know I'd regret not dancing traditionally. It may change if ever I get engaged obviously, but the first time I heard 'You're The Inspiration' by Chicago, I was like wow..this is my wedding song!!

Whoever mentioned "Never Let Go" up there- awesome (if unexpected) choice! That's a gorgeous song. We had a little jazz quartet at our reception, and I made them learn "La Vie en Rose" for our first dance. It was wonderful!

Our first song was Everything by Lifehouse which is our song. Then I surprised him with Angel by Sarah McLachlan. One time he told me about a dance he went to where he was the only one who didn't have someone to dance with to that song.

We danced to Sarah McLachlan's "Push". The first time I heard it, I felt like it was written for us or something. Corny, I know, but it's the truth. Snowbunny11, I LOVE "Till Kingdome Come" (I'm a huge Colplay fan). We got married in 2004, so that song wasn't out yet, but if it had been it would have been a contender for our first dance. That is the song that my Husband and I have set as our cell phone ringtones for each other.

It seriously makes me cry every time I hear it, and I am so not like that!! My fiance plays the guitar, maybe he could play it at the wedding, but he can't play and dance at the same time! I'd love to do something like this couple, but this is so much more me. It really is an absolutely beautiful song. And I'm an atheist now but was very religious growing up, and I think the familiar churchy sound of the song is just really comforting too. Which is kind of messed up...but...I love it!

Wow, snowbunny, that's the song I want to dance to! I've told my boyfriend that I want him to learn the song on guitar (he plays anyway, I just want him to add it to his repertoire) and I'm hoping he'll pull it out some special day. I love love love "'til Kingdom Comes" - so beautiful! Last Valentine's Day Matt wrote some of the lyrics from it into the card he gave me :)
