Do Tell: What Would You Want to Keep?

When you date someone, their things quickly become your things, especially when you live together, but what happens when you break up? Since most of your personal belongings have a clear owner, ladies, do tell, what would you want to keep if you were to breakup with your significant other as a memory of him?

I would keep the pet <3 And things for the house, things that I know I would use alot. Anything that would be a hassle to replace. Let him have the pictures, unless he could be easliy cut out!

I wouldn't keep anything, unless the thing had a lot of meaning to me that didn't have anything to do with the ex. I can see that hurting a future bf's feelings, and if someone is my ex, that means there is a reason we broke up and I would want to get over them and move on. I think people only keep things because they are not truly over their ex, they want to remember them in some ways, because to me even remembering an ex in a good way is not being over them because you want to keep thinking about them instead of the good times you are having with the new person. I know lots and lots of people will probably disagree with that, but thats just what I've seen during my limited experience.

Probably one of his tee shirts, although that wouldn't exactly help me get over him. I hope I never have to deal with this.

Definitely jewellery and photos. Just because we broke up doesn't mean he didn't mean anything to me and deserves to be erased completely. Plus if it was a nasty break-up you can sell the jewellery or melt it down and make something nice out of it that won't remind you of your ex.

I seem to collect long sleeved t-shirts from my exes (a common thread --> their places are always a bit too chilly) that become a part of my lounge around the house wear that I hate to give up even if we break up.

I would want to keep this little stuffed gray squirrel that we got as a gift from this resort we go to. Over time this squirrel has taken on his personality and it would be a reminder of the fact that even though my BF is a serious guy, he has a soft side too. Plus the squirrel is best friends with my little stuffed animal cat so I would never separate them!!!! (Can't believe I'm admitting this... sigh)

I agree with Mizz Jenni. My ex bought my a very expensive diamond necklace when we were together, but it was yellow gold, totally not my style (must have been a sign!). I gave it to my Mom. She knew he gave it to me but was happy that I thought of her, since I was never gonna wear it again. I don't even keep pics. My relationships tend to end badly, or else why would hey end?!

I never keep anything from my past relationships. Never have, never will. It helps me get over that person quickly and move on.
