Do Tell: What was your Favorite Wedding Party Favor?

I used to love going to birthday parties when I was young just to see what the party favor was going to be! One thing I never realized was how much time and thought goes into choosing the perfect take away. Well, the same thing holds true for wedding favors. Usually the bride and groom make sure every guest walks away with a keepsake so he or she can remember their special day.

So ladies, do tell, what was your favorite wedding favor?

Good friends had pint glasses printed with a logo that had a joshua tree with their initials on either side (C and B) and 2008 printed below. It was a destination wedding that was 3 days long, and they had a bunch of microbrews. As each person got there he/she was handed a glass and told to use it throughout the weekend, and to make sure to leave with a glass. Our friends had tons left over (they had to order a gross, but only about 100 people came to the wedding) so they gave us 4 more, and now my boyfriend and I have a half-dozen! Our other friends love the glasses, and no one guesses that they're wedding favors.

mrsgrillo, love the idea of the wine with a personalised label!

All I have really seen are choclates and sugar coated almonds. For our wedding, our favor for each couple was a small bottle of wine from a local winery with a personalized label (Glades Pike winery in Somerset--we were married at Hidden Valley, if anyone knows of it) and then we had chocolate bars with personalized labels for the kiddies. I do love the recipe book idea though.

We don't really do that in UK. I'm learning something new about wedding!

the recipe book is such a cute idea! the ornament idea is also great for a winter wedding! I have never loved any of the favors I have seen... it is usually some form of chocolate and I don't really care for chocolate  We had silk fans in sandalwood boxes with a ribbon w/ our names and wedding date wrapped around them (August wedding in TX = hot). We also had personalized cootie catchers- I hope ya'll remember what those are. And we had printed off a card to lay at everyone's seat that explained that we donated to the university's animal assisted therapy program in their name.

edible favors are the only ones i've ever seen at my family's weddings, but they're always the best bet that everyone will like them. and if anyone doesn't want them, someone else will! i like the idea of a cd of songs, but it's starting to get overplayed now and i've heard of people who are "soooo over it!" basically. when/if i get married, i fully expect it to be small and intimate, so the recipe book idea is one i will definitely be thinking about doing at my own wedding (someday, maybe).

Oooh, handmade Christmas ornaments. That sounds like an awesome idea! My favorite kind of favors are the edible ones. Yum.

CestLaVie, I love the recipe book idea. Too cute! I have 2 favs. One of them was a CD of the bride and grooms favorite songs, and the CD cover had a montage of pics of them from infancy to engagement. I went to a winter-themed wedding last year and the favors were handmade Christmas ornaments. Thought that was nice because its something I'd actually keep as opposed to a bottle of bubbles which I seem to have gotten at pretty much ever other wedding! I loved the ones my sister gave out, hand rolled beeswax candles with a decorative pushpin holding on a printed card with the date of the wedding and bride and grooms name. Also, his and hers gingerbread people mini cookie cutters :) . A couple of other cute things I have seen recently are a mini picture frame with a photo of the bride and groom, and a beautifully hand decorated flower shaped cookie.

One year, a co-worker of mine got married at a very nice, intimate wedding (Henry Ford Estate in Dearborn, MI for anyone familiar). They both have small families so a couple of weeks before-hand, they had asked guests to give them a copy of their favorite recipes- main dish, dessert, drink- anything- then they combined all of the recipes and had it printed and spiral bound for all of the guests, each page listing who submitted what- a very cute idea and I have used it quite a bit knowing they are all "tried and true" home recipes! Another friend of mine and her hubby-to-be made up a playlist of all of their favorite songs and had a copy of the disc with a printed label listing their wedding date etc... For my sisters wedding which was rather large, she wanted something affordable and not too time consuming so they purchased loads of Hershey bars and made "labels" on the computer listing stats like their full names, birthday, "their" song, anniversary etc... then the pages were cut to the right size and wrapped around the bar using a bit of glue from a glue-stick, it was a bit of a pain (I was dubbed candy-bar wrapper) but cute, personal and inexpensive. I think they also had a packet of flower seeds at everyones seat to signify their "growing love."

one favor I received were the 3 candies and a little note that said "A Hug, a Kiss, and a Promise." I always thought it was cute.

Actually, my husband and I choose to take the money that we would have spent on favors and ended up donating it to two of our favorite charities. So, maybe the guests didn't get a takeaway, but it might have helped someone else! Most people I know end up throwing out the favors anyway...
