Do Tell: If you Could Live in Any Era...

We all know what an important part music plays in the soundtracks of our lives, but does the music of your time correctly represent the person you are today? While I happen to be a big fan of pop music, I have always said I wished I could have been my age now when Studio 54 was around, not only for the great tunes, but also for the wild times and killer fashions. But what about you? Ladies, do tell, if you could travel back in time and live in any other era, what time period would you want to live in?

probably the early 70's. the fashion and the music from that area is really neat...especially in places like California (think Almost Famous). and the whole free-spirited life style is really intriguing. The late 40's would be cool too, maybe even the 20's. But if I had to chose, definatly the early 70's

my parents generation, they were born in the 50's became adults in the 70's and have their heads about them and are smart and mature people who are now in their 50's. Plus their generation was much safer, very pro-ocative, and no afraid to say or do what they felt. Today Everything is too dangerous, you have to look behind you every five seconds. I also admire my grandparents generation that were born in the first two decades of the 1900 century, their times were safer minus the two world wars, we can learn heaps from them!

I'm an overly romantic history lover, so about anytime would be fine with me. I would love to visit the ancient world, the 1600's, the 1700's (freedom!), 1800's, 1940's, 1950's. The Dark Ages and the Middle Ages when women were burned at the stake, and the scientifically minded got to drink poison, I would avoid like the plague, no pun intended.

I would love to live in the 90's. Simply because my young age (at the time) prevented me from enjoying/remembering the first half of it, and the second half was a blast! Other than that, I would choose the 50's.

It would have to be the 70's, i've always loved the fashion and the music from that era.

I really like this time, right now. I think that romanticization of other eras obscures what went on during those times. As women, most of us would not have the opportunities that we have today. And if you were a person of color, forget it. I think any time before the passage of the civil rights acts would have been a pretty cr*ppy time to be alive. Though things aren't exactly rosy these days and we have a long way to go, there's no other time I'd rather be alive.

40s and 50s. Life seemed so much simpler then. And I agree with rubialala and renees2 about the clothing of that time. Everyone looked so elegant and classy.

I'd have to say either the 40's/50's because like rubialala, I'm sort of obssesed with the WW2 era. Women always looked to beautiful and men looked so dashing. Also, if I could choose my life a little, I'd like to live in Ancient Roman times, not neccisarily as a Roman though. I love the innovation of the time.

hmmm.. well the nineteenth century has always been my favorite time period fashion and literature-wise. :) but i'd really never trade our present for anything. can you imagine living with no internet, no cell phones, no webcams??? god- i'm such a "generation now" kid! also to all those saying they love the wartime era, i see your point but it really depends where. i'm from europe and my bf and i have often talked about how grateful we are that we weren't born in our grandparents' times. we would've never stood a chance.

Wow, that's a hard one. I'm pretty happy living in the "now", but I would like to have been an adult during the late 60's. I would pretty much want to experience a little of each decade though. There are so many amazing things that happened in each one (and don't even get me started on some of the fashions).

Dear this is a tough one! I think the 70s for me as well because I love the style and always wanted to be a character in Boogie Nights. After that it would be earlier like in the Roaring 20s. Could you imagine carrying a real Chanel??
