Abortion may not sound good, great or ethical, but when the need comes, it is the only option and there isn't a better human being who helps you do it.

3/5 and WOW. i wish more women die of illegal abortion. abortion is murder if its done after the baby is formed. and i wish death upon murderers.

PsychDr., you still haven't linked any information, so I'm forced to conclude that you are parroting beliefs. Name-dropping (actually, you didn't name your organization...probably out of fear that they aren't as credible as you are touting them to be)is classic PARROTING, dear. Proximity to big ideas doesn't mean squat...until you back up your talk with some FACTS or at least OPINIONS (and by opinions, I mean something other than "you all are terrible") you are contributing nothing to the debate. Frank y Ava, you make a sandwich? I thought the correct pro-death protocol was a fetus smoothie!! :-) Just kidding, folks.

psychdr1980 people like you really make me enjoy my fetus and egg sandwich that I have almost every mourning. Thanks for making it so delightful.

*your funny.

Parroting the belief's of others? HAHAHA, your I worked for a non-profit prolife organization for years. I am very well informed, thank you.

PsychDr, please refer to your source(s) while quoting statistics. Numbers are twisted by both sides of this argument to "prove" points, so by linking your information you are helping everyone choose for themselves. After all, making emotional outbursts and calling everyone "idiots" just alienates your target audience, dear. :-) But since that was the approach you took (insulting everyone without actually offering up a valid argument besides some vaguely religious jargon), I highly doubt you had any intentions of discussing your opinion...just trying/failing at being a hot-headed moral crusader. FYI--you sound like Fred Phelps. Blech.

correction: you actually called us idiots, not ignorants.

psychdr, what an immature, ignorant comment. calling people who's opinions differ from yours ignorant? yes, you've enlightened us all. thanks. *eyerolls* you give non-narrowminded, loving christians a bad name.

You people are idiots. I am in fact not pro-choice but rather fight for a babies right to live. What ever happened to that? The Holocaust was cake compared to what women are doing these days. God gives life and man takes it away with man made tools. Pretty disturbing in my opinion. And since we're discussing facts, incest and rape are actually smaller percentages than women dying due to complications from abortion. Also, "bleeding out" in not uncommon in abortions, that usually results in a hysterectomy. Most abortion docs would rather the ambulance not turn their lights on leaving the ol'abortion clinic. Boy, wouldn't that be bad for business? Actually, I think if women could just not "put out" every 5 minutes, than maybe unwanted babies would have a fighting chance, literally. Good luck to all you women rights activist and may Christ be with you when he comes back, cause abortion, or "genocide" certainly isn't on God's agenda!!!

so sad. i am very lucky/fortunate that I have not been put in the position to choose to have an abortion. I can't even imagine what I would do.

4/5, not bad, i got that 13 percent one wrong, too.

Leila07, how about you read Back Rooms: Voices from the Illegal Abortion Era or watch If These Walls Could Talk. Just a suggestion.

That's because that 13% is not correct. Read comments above... Hopefully DearSugar can change this.

The 13% figure really shocked me too. I'm currently studying abroad in Chile, a country in which even a therapeutic abortion (administered only when the mother's life is endangered by the pregnancy or the pregnancy is the product of incest or rape) is almost impossible to get and any elective abortion is impossible. The fact that the Chilean government has no desire to try and save women's lives really appalls me.

OrangeSugar you said it better than I could have.

Leila07, you simply cannot read propagandic literature on EITHER side of this debate. Strive to find a non-biased source of information and choose your beliefs for yourself. Parroting the beliefs of others because you feel like they represent your own is everything, search for more information, and continue to shape your opinions on the subject. Ultimately, I feel like this debate comes down to women/women judgement, plain and simple. There is no reason for Mommy Wars or the Great Abortion Debate except that there are groups of women out there who feel like everyone should choose the path they themselves would choose. Pro-life or pro-choice, let's all respect the FACT that all women are different. Different circumstances, different bodies, different morals, different religions, different values, different outlooks on life and child-rearing. What works for you will NOT work for everyone, and to expect otherwide is ignorant.

i don't think abortion is ever a "good" choice, but sometimes its the best choice.
lildorothyparker lildorothyparker 8 years
Enough said about what? It's a pro-life book written by a man who has been pushing the pro-life agenda for years.

To everyone who is pro-choice: Please read Lime 5 By Mark Crutcher. 'nuff said.

Oh and I just read above that the 13% was of MATERNAL deaths, that was kind of what I had assumed but I still thought it would be lower..
candace87 candace87 8 years
Angela, I don't see how you had the "opposite" reaction to karlotta's comment. I thought at first that you meant that if these women didn't get abortions they would be living, but then you agreed with another poster's comment (forget the name, sorry) that was pro-choice? I'm a little confused. Anyway, I guessed 13%, I was way off on the first two questions though. I'm suprised by those numbers for sure.

snowy - I think that the "stigma" you speak of is a two way street. For example, imagine what would happen if Sarah Palin's daughter decided to abort her pregnancy. Given her social circle, she would likely be chastised. I see nothing wrong with being pro-life (though I identify myself as being pro-choice), but no matter what decision a woman makes there will be people there to criticize her.
