First Date Pet Peeves For Women

10 First Date Pet Peeves

After Reese Witherspoon said she went out with a guy who corrected her grammar on a first, and last, date (who would correct Reese Witherspoon's anything?), I asked what your first date pet peeves were. From the too casual (letting you pay) to the overzealous (squeezing in the same side of a booth), here are your 10 first date no-nos.

  • Not having suggestions when he's doing the asking
  • Sitting on the same side of the table
  • Taking up an offer to pay or split a check
  • Checking his phone more than once or twice
  • Suggesting a chain restaurant
  • Chewing with his mouth open
  • Asking to meet somewhere, rather than pick you up
  • Talking negatively about anyone, be it an old girlfriend or people passing by
  • Trying too hard (i.e. going to a ridiculously expensive restaurant)
  • Talking about himself too much, especially while saying "it's all about you"

Have any to add?

Oh, here's another one. You agree to meet & he shows up in a dress shirt, but it's all terribly wrinkled. :faint:

Showing up reeking of cologne with a gold chain around his neck. Loitering, as if in hopes that he won't have to actually take you out on the date.

I don't agree with the picking-me-up on and the taking me to a expensive restaurant, as stated above, it shows that the person is happy to be with you.

Rude to the wait staff is definitely up there.

Agree with the first poster about picking you up/meeting you. And also think very expensive restaurant is a great idea. Wine me, dine me, make me feel like you really wanted to go on the date WITH ME. To me, going to a casual restaurant is like saying, "I had to eat anyway, and I come here a lot, so you might as well join me". A little special attention up front (on the date).

if i were a guy, my pet peeve would be going on a date with a girl wearing as much makeup as that girl in the picture :ROTFL:

The only one I disagree on is the meeting instead of picking you up. I've been stalked before so maybe I'm just paranoid... but it takes a couple dates before I'm comfortable letting ANY man know where I live. The phone one... I have straight up murdered men for checking their phone too much on a date. No joke I have committed cold blooded murder over that shit.
