This Teen's Splash Mountain Coming-Out Announcement Is SO Epic

Jul 9 2016 - 10:30am

Some people prefer to sit down with their family to have a serious talk about their sexuality. But for 16-year-old Gina, that's not really her style. The California native decided to come out to her parents and brother in a "lighthearted and fun way," she told BuzzFeed News [1]. So during a trip to Disneyland with her mom, Gina held a sign that read "I'm Gay!" for the camera on Splash Mountain.

"I love funny ride photos so I figured I could make the sign [5] just in case I decided to go for it, and I did," she said.

When her mom saw the picture after the ride, she sent it to the rest of their immediate family, who were all extremely supportive. The internet has also been overwhelmingly positive — since tweeting the photo on June 20, it's received over 8,000 likes and 4,500 retweets. Gina's ride photo was definitely worth purchasing.
