Is it a Good Idea or Bad Idea to Mix Business with Pleasure?

Since most Americans spend more time at work and with their co-workers than they do with their own friends and families, it's not surprising so many people develop relationships at the work place. But, mixing business with pleasure can oftentimes create uncomfortable situations not only for you and your mate, but also for other co-workers and superiors. It's wonderful to see your boyfriend everyday while the relationship lasts, but if things go south, there is no escaping the dreaded ex -- you have to go to work after all!

Do you think it is a good idea or a bad idea to fraternize in the work place? Source

It can go either way. If one person (usually the woman we know we do it ladies) wants to be all lovey dovey and cutesy at work and the other (usually the man) wants quickies in the bathroom it gets complicated and interferes with hmm...WORK!

If you are about to leave then go for it, otherwise behave and don't drink anything that will alternate your mood at parties. It's better to use the vibrator than to shag a co worker.

Bad idea. I used to work with my boyfriend at a small family run business. After we broke up - I felt like people took sides. It was weird when he would call in for a purchase order. I changed jobs two months later.

I think it's fine to socialize with work people to a point. You still have to be on your 'office behavior' and can't cut loose because whatever you do or say will be repeated in the office and used against you. So I say 'yes' but only if you proceed with caution.

Office romances create a hotbed of speculation and gossip. Also when it ends, it might be difficult to see that person every single day. Conflicts of interest may arise with significant others in jobs of authority too.

It really depends on where you work. some places I have worked at, it is not a big deal, other places it is not a good idea.
