What It's Like to Date When You REALLY Hate Dating

Aug 14 2016 - 4:30pm

I'm not a people person [1], so forced socialization with a stranger? Not my strong point. Trying to date has always been a struggle for me since I'm an introvert and naturally an all-around awkward human being [2]. Plus I despise any type of social atmosphere, outside of an office, that resembles a job interview. But sometimes you actually do need to go out with another person one-on-one to get to know them, no matter how desperately you'd rather stay home. Ready or not, you're going out, and this is probably how it's going to go:

They contact you and it's totally normal and not awkward at all.

So naturally you respond right away.

After some playful banter, you decide you'll meet up.

You repeat positive affirmations in the mirror as you get ready.

You meet and you both click instantly.

The conversation is riveting.

And you know exactly what to say to put them at ease.

Obviously, the setting is perfectly casual for meeting for the first time.

They do that adorable thing where they order for you before they know what you like.

You don't even get up to "use the bathroom" once.

Finally, leave it up to that natural chemistry for a good night kiss.

But truly, the best part about dating? Once you find someone you like, you don't have to date again.
