How Would You Describe Your Personal Brand?

I turned on the Today Show this morning while I was getting ready and caught a segment that made me want to put a little more thought into my outfit. Branding expert Martin Lindstrom was on to talk about how we should all build a personal brand that will help us stand out in a crowd. Celebrities like Donald Trump, Martha Stewart, and let's face it Lindsay Lohan, leverage their names for success and profit, so why can't we?

Martin gave some actionable tips, including: define what you're known for (always being on time? over delivering on promises?); pick a personal style (such as wearing black); don't be afraid of mystery (tell your best stories, but let people fill in the details). How would you describe your "personal brand"?

@moss1080, I love it! Is "nerd" already trademarked? Because that's my brand.

I try to do two things: A. To always give someone a complement B. To smell like candy.

I am a planner who likes to TCB. Unfortunately, Elvis already got dibs on the TCB branding.

Not giving a crap about what people say about how I dress, what I read or my taste in music. And getting incredibly bitchy the minute someone comments on my bum. :p

I've thought about this a lot, but the more I try to define myself the more I feel like someone else. I try not to worry about summing myself up in one block of text, outfit, or business card. I wouldn't say someone like Lindsay has done a great job "branding" herself. Paris Hilton is also a major brand, but who in their right mind takes these girls seriously?

Actionable? This isn't going to be one of those words I'm going to be sick of hearing, is it?

Based on the feedback I get, I think my personal brand would be "marching to the beat of my own drum."
