Jessica Simpson Gets Healthy Before Her 30th Birthday

Turning 30: Do Big Birthdays Matter?

Jessica Simpson has taken on many personas in her 29 years — from virginal pop princess, to naive newlywed, super-sex Daisy Duke, and self-loving explorer of beauty ideals. On the eve of her 30th birthday, the singer plans to re-create herself again with a new health regime. She says she's shocking her system with a vegan diet, healing tea, and cupping. I hope there's room for at least one glass of celebratory champagne. Whether or not you're the type of person who goes all out for every birthday, when you approach a milestone, say 21, 30, or 40, do you celebrate in a special way and evaluate where you're headed?

21 two months ago for me was pretty huge. I believe in doing fun things every year but BIG ones on milestones. :D

It depends on the year. 30 was a reason to party for me since I was single after 9 years of marriage. When I realized I have teenage children that year is when I quit celebrating and I'm thankful every year just to make it to the next one.

I try to celebrate birthdays, but usually my parties kind of fizzle! Oh well! I try to do evaluations of where I'm going in my life based every couple months/seasonally. Like I was planning on making a list of things I'd like to accomplish each day as the 1st of July draws near. New goals will probably form when school starts up again!

I don't really do reevaluations, but I do believe in having a huge celebration!

Personally, I don't do big birthdays. That's not my style. Generally, I have get-togethers with close family members and friends on a one-on-one basis during the month of my birthday. It turns out I will be socializing for every weekend during that month. It seems like it's a birthday MONTH, not just a day. I get to celebrate all month long, not just for one day. I love that. :)

I turn 30 tomorrow and for me, every birthday is special and I make a big deal out of all of them. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do this year, but never fear, my family and friends threw me a surprise party last weekend to mark the milestone, so that was fun. Oddly enough, I am going to go vegan (Simpson stole *my* idea) because I've been having a ton of health issues. This has been a long time coming for me and I'm really excited to explore this new chapter in my life. I'm really excited for the days (and years) to come! But again, for me, all birthdays are important, not just the milestones.

I mark the big ones, but I like to have fun every birthday. I wouldn't say that I really reevaluate too much, but who knows? I might feel differently in a year and 2 months when I actually hit 30.

I turned 30 just a few months ago and it wasn't that big of a deal to me. I went out with some friends and family to celebrate. People give me a hard time and joke about how old I am now, but because I'm petite and relatively young-looking, I really don't feel or look very old at all. A few years ago (at age 27) I did the "clean up my life" thing and finally got off my butt to lose the 40 lbs that made me overweight. Now I'm fit so I feel pretty young for my age :) And it helps to have a husband who is 4 years younger than me!

I love my birthday, and big milestones are cause for big celebrations. I'm not going to reinvent myself, change is a continuous process, but I will celebrate and enjoy turning 30 next year.

I don't really do big celebrations, but I guess I sort of evaluate every year. That's why I hate birthdays. That's when I realize that my plans to become an irrelevant pop star have fallen through yet again :(

I'd be happy to celebrate a bit milestone with friends and family but I am not one to do something like "evaluate where I'm headed" and do a vegan cleanse. Birthday are to be celebrated but I don't need to self evaluate and come up with resolutions just because I'm turning a year older.
