Keirnan Shipka's Interview Magazine Photos

Sally Draper's All Dolled Up — Too Grownup or Just Dress-Up?

If I didn't know better, I'd think regular psycho mom Betty Draper had become a psycho stage mom between season three and four of Mad Men. But this isn't the character Sally, it's actress Keirnan Shipka, the 10-year-old who plays the drink-mixing Draper daughter. We don't know how old she'll be this season, but if she looks anything like this, then her story line is about to get way more interesting.

Although published in Interview magazine's May issue, the Internet didn't unearth the photos until today. They're bringing out the parent in even the least likely of us, but this is the same Internet who imagined a romance between her character (grown-up) and 30 Rock's Jack Donaghy last year.

Does it look like good fun to you or would you have her put on some (10-year-old's) clothes?

If you watch 'Mad Men' then you know her character Sally has done things that are disturbing. I think these are beautiful photos and not inappropriate at all.

I'm a huge advocate of maintaining childhood innocence, and I really don't see anything wrong with these photos. I don't think she's being provocative, I don't think the "poses" are to mature. If anything she evokes memories of dressing up in your mothers fanciest outfit and trying to play "grown up". I looked at all the pictures from the article, and the two other actresses (13 and 15) were both decidedly more "provocative", but that is to be expected since they are more advanced in their development. I still didn't think any of the photos were trashy or vulgar or inappropriate. It seemed like a high fashion photo shoot, not an attempt to exploit the youth of these girls.

She's a performer and these photos are no where near the creepiness I get from seeing clips from those child beauty pageants. The photos are interesting, it's clear in some of the shots that she's wearing adult clothes, i think the edge would've been off if it was in color because in black and white it has this sort of ethereal feel. http://pinkpopmash.blogspot.com

In my opinion, too grown-up. The whole tone of these photos is mature and adult. There is nothing child-like (with exception of the subject) about these photos. I think it's inappropriate.

Pageant girls creep me out! haha. I like her look here! She isn't revealing and she looks high fashion! I think it's acceptable, we have seen much worse!

I think they're alright. Like other people have said, beauty pageant girls look much scarier most of the time, make up wise as well.

She's not in revealing clothing, but something still feels too grown up with these photographs (I think its the facial expressions she's using? Aren't kids supposed to smile and not try to convey a sense of mystery?). I agree with you, Miss Sushi & Anonymous 2, that they are nowhere near as disgusting as child beauty pageants (which I consider a legal loophole for kiddie porn).

I think if it 'feels' disturbing, its because the images are provocative; they're alluring, and enticing the viewer in an artistic sense, which feels wrong when the subject is ten years old. At first glance, I didn't know she was ten! I thought it was an odd choice to pose her and have her expressions be so...well, adult? I mean, the look they're going for is clearly outside of a ten-year-old's emotive intelligence.

I don't mind these, and i dont think they are disturbing.... shes not wearing revealing clothing, flashy or blatent makeup, and shes not posing in sexual or adult poses. Its a little on the weird side, but eh, it doesnt bother me. I agree though - those child pagents are horrifying.

I think the photographer fail in its intent to " play dress up". This pictures are also a little disturbing.
