Lighten Up! Is Jon Stewart the George W. Bush of the Oscars?

Two-time Oscar host Jon Stewart may actually have something in common with two-term President George W. Bush. Their performances leading the ship (the Academy Awards ceremony and the United States, respectively) inspired a call for a drastically new direction.

Jon hosted the Academy Awards in 2005, and he apparently did a good enough job to be asked back in 2008. But following his second performance, the Academy Awards decided it was time for change. Voters brought in liberal president Barack Obama, and the Oscars brought in song-and-dance man Hugh Jackman. Check out this video of John Oliver laying into his boss, Jon Stewart!

Yeah its surprising that that was aired. Especially considering how Disney practically owns Walters.

It's sad/annoying to me that people at ABC saw that before the show aired and no one higher up said 'take it out' - even if she is 'Barbara Walters' someone had to have the authority to say this is sexist, rude and in incredibly poor taste and will not air. I can't find anyone who found it amusing.

I... Um... The visual running through my mind right now is not good. :( Oh the trauma my mind is suffering because you are a weird old lady Barbra Walters. I am kind of glad that I did not actually see that part of the special however.

He DID give her a lapdance silver!!! :( It was really awkward. And I'm really wondering how on Earth she thought that would be appropriate. I highly doubt that a male news reporter would ask Marisa Tomei to show him her best moves from The Wrestler.

She would not survive a Hugh Jackman lap dance... that's all I'm saying. :rotfl:

I'm still horrified by the image of Barbara Walters making Hugh give her a lapdance. (shudder)

I don't know who that guy was, but he isn't funny.

Steph, I have like zero clue about his actual Oscar performance cause I didn't watch it.

Which is not to say that Jackman isn't pretty awesome, just that that awesomeness wasn't displayed enough.

I liked Jackman's open but got bored after that and left before the half-way point.

John Stewart took it all in stride. I mean it was on his show. Totally agree with Jessiebanana.

:rotfl: You've got to love a good Stewart roast, especially by his own people. Plus Hugh Jackman is pretty awesome.
