My thoughts exactly Mich...she looks the best I've seen her. and people need to stop being so darn sensitive...it is understandable that Black History Month has more meaning to her...same as women's issues have more meaning to women, and veterans day has more meaning to veterans.

We can't get serious about it in school until we decide that educationally we need to hold them to a higher standard, and not lower the bar to bring up the bottom 1/3

It would be cool if she did do the same every month - I'm sure she'd find the kids knew less and less about different contributors to U.S. history, and maybe then we'd get more serious about it in our schools.

"she encouraged them to look beyond the names in history books to the people in their day-to-day lives, like parents, teachers, and grandparents." It's good that she's encouraging kids to understand that history is alive - I've got to press mine to go beyond the same few names every year.
