Money Woes Mean No Woodstock Anniversary Concert

If you want to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Woodstock this Summer, you'll have to head to a movie theater. Thanks to a lack of money and sponsors, a previously planned commemorative concert won't be happening.

The original promoters of Woodstock had planned to hold a free concert in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, an event that was sure to replace hippies with hipsters.

At least Hollywood's here to re-create the epic concert. Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock opens on Aug. 28 and the cast includes some geeky dreamboats, like Emile Hirsch and Demetri Martin. All is not lost.

Yeah, I think the lasting rep of "Bad Woodstock" (aka, '99) ruined the chance of any repeat performance. The ridiculous thing was I was there for most of it (including the Chili Peppers and famous "fires") and it seemed so much more dangerous/riotous looking on TV later than it felt standing there.

GOOD!!!!! I woulda hated to see all the faux-hippies of today with their iphones capturing Katy Perry (or insert any other gimmicky-pop artist) @ Woodstock 40!... after driving there in their SUVs. I hate hipsters... they don't get it. They need to sit down and watch the emotional hippies crying over trees video on youtube. That will scare the trend right out of them.
