More Details Emerge in the Case of the "Craigslist Killer"

Emerging details from the case of the accused Craigslist Killer reveal that "clean cut" Phillip Markoff was likely living a life unrecognizable to his close friends and family.

This morning a man came forward on the Today Show to recount how Markoff petitioned him for sexual activities on Craigslist's Casual Encounters. The man said:

I posted an ad on Craigslist under "male for t," which stands for "males for transsexuals." That's where he found me.

This may be just the tip of the iceberg. Markoff reportedly told his family: "There's more coming out . . . Forget about me and move to California." If you were in the shoes of Markoff's family, what would you do?

Spacekatgal, I think the "man" in the story though, identifies as a man; he was looking for a transexual, and for some reason, Markoff answered his ad! But yes, if the transexual were referred to, we would call her "she!" Good reminder, though.

is he denying that he did this?

Oh and his family in many ways are victims too, so to trivialize their pain is really sad. I have had members of my family who were victims of violent crimes and one who committed a violent crime. Both are hard to deal with and both make the family feel like a victim and wonder what they could have done. The person you though was good and kind is now...well Dead and has become this suspect that you no longer recongnize. But in either case blood is thicker than water, and although I'm sure his family does not approve of what he did they are probably not going to turn their back on him.

Seriously TresSugar “Clean cut” are we going there again? I thought this was discussed last week and a vast majority of people found it insulting to their intelligence that because someone looks a certain way or is from a certain type of economic background they can't be capable of the alleged crimes he has been accused of? Even though it’s a quote to keep using it is perpetuating the stereotype! And I’m not surprised that more information is slowly coming to the surface.

I agree SKC - it makes you wonder if you can really ever fully know and trust someone

my friend was supposed to attend his wedding this august- like many other people that knew him, she cannot believe that he was capable of something like what he's accused of.

I often wonder how these people who come forth give interviews on tv first before the trial starts. Is it a good thing to do or are they compromising details that should/could be used in the upcoming trial *I'm assuming there'll be one since he's pleaded not guilty*? Personally, I don't mind these potential witnesses giving interviews, and heck, it's more for me to read and watch! But I wonder about juries also sometimes, since the trial is not for awhile, will people chosen to be ones remember these details and then basically have convicted him before hearing all evidences in the trial?

I like how they added in at the end that the wedding had been cancelled. Duh. I think I feel sorriest for his fiance.

If I was his fiance I would thank my lucky stars that he didn't "snap" on me and endanger my life. Talk about a close call. As for the rest of his family...ugh, I can't imagine.

i don't mean sick and deluded in a mean way either...i mean like literally sick, has a problem, mental illness, needs help...i know that reads badly

for one, i totally dont view him as "clean cut"...he totally has creepy vibes, to me and two, what do you mean "what would you do if you were his family?" would you forget about him and move to california? uh, no, probably not (if i were his fiance i'd book it though, but if i were his mom....) if i wereh is mom or sibling, i would stand by him...he's obviously sick and deluded...i mean, i wouldn't do anything to hide his true nature or defend him, but i would stand by him during this hard time and try to get him help...i wouldn't take off and go to california...unless i feared for my life...that's not what families do...

Again, never judge a book by it's cover. This is very sad to me. He seemed like a guy who had a lot going for himself in his life, and he decided to end all of that by killing someone. Maybe people who kill are under the impression they will never get caught, or all of their doings are completely private. That's the thing about privacy -- you do not have any, once you go and post sh*t like that on craigslist, etc.

I take it the wedding has been called off then? I wonder what his fiance is saying now? This case keeps getting stranger and stranger.
