Yup, it's synesthesia. It's not always a disorder, though. People with it are sometimes able to do amazing things because of it. Stuff like super high mathematics in their head, all kinds of astounding feats of memory, etc. It's a neurological condition that can cause odd problems, but it doesn't have to.

One man had to break up with his girlfriend because whenever he said her name he got a taste in his mouth that made him gag. These individuals also see colour when they hear music!

That would actually be a symptom of synesthesia. Another symptom is the association of individual letters and numbers with a particular colour. It's a fascinating neurological disorder!
