Obama Draws a Crowd of 100,000 in St. Louis

A crowd estimated by police to number 100,000 came out to an Obama rally in St. Louis, MO today. Standing before the crowd, Obama said, "What a magnificent sight. All I can say is, wow!" The sea of supporters collected under the St. Louis Gateway Arch the nation's tallest monument. The rally doesn't rival his largest, 200,000 in Berlin, but beats the 84,000 who heard him give his acceptance speech at the convention in August.

and i don't know if you have noticed but everything is more expensive lately as it is - and Barack Obama isn't even president... yet.

Booyah is not an argument. Yours truly used to be a staunch republican as well. the wool was pulled off my eyes when our country was about to go to war in Iraq. talk about a lack of logic... i thought a while back you said that Presidents do not have the power to affect our lives? interesting... it must be nice to be the only person who knows the truth about everything, of course you would know!

And booyah is a very compelling argument.

Logic doesn't have to be scary. It's just rough when the wool comes off your eyes sometimes. I'm serious, just wait and see how expensive your life will be.

there you go again, trying to discourage people to vote for Obama. it's like the dark side vs. the light side. people are responding to positivity - that's why 100,000 people showed up in MO. booyah.

Go ahead. But just wait and see what will happen if Obama does everything he says he is.

I see. Either way, i'm voting for him. The Patriot Act is not one of the major things threatening our basic way of life and most likely with a Democratic majority in Congress and Obama as president, it will be changed or eliminated. Such smart women on teamsugar, good job!

Um, that should say he voted TO renew the Patriot Act.

Amanda, Obama voted renew the Patriot Act.

well, my bad. i guess i missed the Ghandi Quotes Class. my point was: that Obama's message is NOT 'vote for me and i will change your life' he actually emphatically emphasizes that we all need to do our part. of course, i will most likely get dissed again for not having actual direct quotes, and i would spend my time looking for them, but after i get my daughter ready for bed, i have to figure out which bill i'm going to pay. thanks! Organic: I might be mistaken, but wasn't the Patriot Act enacted before Barack Obama was even elected to the Senate? therefore he would not have voted for it.

that's a pretty awesome crowd for it to be so late in the campaign.

I agree with GS on this one.

Thanks for fixing the picture. I trust Citizen Sugar for my national news source, and, as a St. Louisian, I was very disappointed to see a picture that was obviously not St. Louis.

This is a bit of a tangent, but how worrisome is that that such an old and wise quote from Ghandi is being attributed to Obama? How did you seriously never hear that quote before (about a BILLION times)? Just wondering...

Yes, Snow. That's my only issue: the Patriot Act. Obviously, I don't care about any other issues.

Oh gosh you're voting for Nader aren't you!? I actually adore Nader!

Mich. lol. Org- I'm pretty sure that when people say they are going to look at the candidates' voting records, they mean like, for multiple issues and multiple votes. But if you want to completely remove yourself from the electorate...fine by me.... ;)

Org, I'm pretty sure Satan never voted for the Patriot Act. So he's a pretty safe candidate for '08. You might want to look into it.
organicsugr organicsugr 8 years
I'm afraid I don't follow, Snow. I'm choosing a candidate based on a voting record that I find agreeable. And, I would hope most people would not find the Patriot Act agreeable. Isn't that how everyone decides who to vote for?
Michelann Michelann 8 years
Oh my god, so even if we don't like a law, we still have to comply with it? Wow...
snowbunny11 snowbunny11 8 years
Aww, Organic, I don't want to be the one to have to tell you this- but even if you don't vote for any of those candidates, the Patriot Act will still apply to you. When does that run out anyway?
organicsugr organicsugr 8 years
I've made a decision to rule out all politicans who voted for the PATRIOT Act. So, McCain, Obama, Barr, they're all out. I look forward to the enjoyment of many civil liberties for some time to come.

Why am I not shocked that no one is truly worthy of organic's vote....

I have a few issues with Bob Barr. He's just another opportunist.
