Majority Of Americans Now Have Negative Impression Of Palin While top-of-the-ticket rivals John McCain and Barack Obama both remain broadly popular heading into Election Day, public perceptions of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin have fallen dramatically since she emerged on the national political scene at the GOP convention. A majority of likely voters in a new Washington Post-ABC News national poll now have unfavorable views of the Alaska governor.

Haha Janneth, if Palin got one thing right it's being attractive. She's got some killer stems ;)...

Romney would have been soooo good for that ticket. He would not have appealed to the base, per se, but they would have voted for him anyway. And he would have brought in the Indies. Plus he would have stabalized McCain for the economic problems. And he's so darn cute.

Some pundits were saying today that Palin will be the next pres candidate and will end up the most popular GOP figure. I can't see that. She will have a hard time winning her next gubernatorial race imo.

ugh I cannot stand this woman. After the election I hope she runs back to alaska with her tail between her legs and we don't hear about her anymore.

Don't like her. I think I really started disliking her with the speech she recited at the RNC. The whole mocking community organizing thing really pissed me off.

The university of Queensland has just opened a bee flying arena, apparently unlocking the key to bee communication is thought to hold answers for Alzheimers. So it would appear that insects have all the answers!

Ugh. That fruit fly comment was ridiculous. She made fun of the research, saying we should spend money instead on disabled children. Except the fruit fly research led to discoveries that could lead to a breakthrough in Autism research. Poor lady just can't catch a break.

Yes trying to get a bunch of winged flies out of yeasty eppies or fly bottles into other apparatuses never quite goes as planned :ponder:... Awww, but you're lucky. You're in grad school doing all the research you want on what you're interested in. I only get snippets of that for now with independent projects starting the second half of term.

:rotfl:, Jessie! Gotta love a fellow science nerd. Go Reed! :) I got my undergrad in bio and am going for my master's right now at Northwestern. Gotta love the fruit fly. Seriously. ;) I miss doing fruit fly labs, even though they are a pain to work with sometimes!

no no no that fruit fly comment was horrible! She should really just not open her mouth..ever. Have any of you heard that TV people want her on their network!? Saying that everytime she's on tv she gets these huge ratings. : f i n g e r s c r o s s e d : please dont let her be on my tv after Obama wins..purty please!

She insulted fruit flies?? That seems rather odd...I will have to look that up now. And I am glad people are seeing her in a negative light. She is just truly a terrible pick- I get so frustrated when she opens her mouth.

em1282 do we go to the same school? Because I've just spent two weeks in lab working with Drosophila :). You have to love the sitter/rover genome. Oh now I feel like a nerd...

I love that she's running her mouth and alienating as many people as possible. She just actually brought down people who study fruit flies (or, for all of you dorks like me, Drosophila's just fun to write that out, really), even though fruit flies are excellent research subjects due to the fact that their genome has been encoded, are easy to work with, and are even helping people to understand some underlying causes of autism. C'mon. Another administration that doesn't understand and respect scientists? I don't think I can handle it. I worked with a man who is devoting his entire life to studying yeast, and I'll be damned if I ever heard anyone talking smack about what he does (which, incidentally, is helping to understand tumor suppressors in genetic yeast homologues, which will--gasp!--help human beings). It's pathetic, and so sad that she feels the need to knock something she will never understand in a million years.

**sorry - supposed to say "OH, FL, and maybe even PA, would have been near impossible to win with that ticket for the Democrats"

BTW - I would have picked Romney - he would have gotten him the social conservatives, Independents/Regan-Dems would overlook his socially conservative views because his economics and strong business background - especially now with the Economic crisis, additionally those people tend not to care about the social issues so much, especially when they rise out of a somewhat unique religion and when politicians don't mix them with their politics, Romney would have the business background as a strong point and focus on that instead of trying to be "folksy". He also would have secured a swing state (Michigan, which loves Romney). I also think OH, FL, and maybe even PA, would have been near impossible to win with that ticket - but what do I know?

eh...McCain was in a damned if you do, damned if you don't position - he needed the far/religious right vote, those folks did not like McCain at all and without hiring a lunatic for the lunatic vote he would not have "energized" the base - which you must agree she has, the problem is that you can't have it all - you can't be a "maverick" and a moderate tyring to get the independent vote and the Democrats who aren't sure of Obama when your running mate hunts moose with big guns and tells people Iraq is a mission from God. Without her he might be closer b/c he'd get more Dems/Independents - but he would have lost a whole lot of people who think McCain is too liberal - back in the pre-Palin era.

I hope we can get Alaska to take her back - I'm not sure they like what they've seen of her since August.

Yeah, like Obama. I mean he's campaigned "in all 57 states." Let's just hope he doesn't "see any more of our fallen heroes in the audience." ;)

Also she "stinks" in interviews because she doesn't know much about the world and apparently our country. Don't you think someone running for the office of VP should know what their job duties are going to be???

"If McCain lost, I really think it's not because of her. I blamed a lot on his campaign on that one. He really doesn't have a good campaign team, not like Obama does." Huh??? I will have to say that I disagree with you hope. She is an insult to women and I honestly feel that she will cost McCain the election.

I'm not going to say that she wasn't an exciting figure in the beginning. She was really a surprise pick, and my fiancee actually liked her before she ran for the VP ticket with McCain (he liked her because he listened to Glenn Beck alot and she made a great impression on him way back talking about drilling, etc). But as things go along, it's hard to like her because the media coverage of her has been real negative and/or focus on the negative parts, and she really stank on some of her national media interviews (Katie Couric's interview, anyone?). Right now, she's neutral for me. She doesn't excite me or discourage me some. Yea, I disagreed with her views (gay marriage, pro-choice/pro-life issues, etc), but it doesn't mean I don't respect the good things she's done for her state. If McCain lost, I really think it's not because of her. I blamed a lot on his campaign on that one. He really doesn't have a good campaign team, not like Obama does.

i almost feel bad for her..almost. I never thought she was a good candidate to begin with! Im pretty sure that McCain would have done much better with someone else by his side. I wish he could just come out and say why it is he really picked her...whatever that is!
