How I Married the Best Man at My First Wedding — and Learned to Live With a Bachelor

Should Getting Back Together Be a Tough Decision?

There have been some Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams sightings lately and the rumor mill is working overtime to figure out if they are back together or not, but you might be glad to know that the rumors are true — they are back on!! They seem to be the Hollywood couple everyone was rooting for, but what took them so long to reignite their flame? In my opinion, following your heart shouldn't be that difficult — you either know or you don't, right? Have you ever had to give getting back together with an old love such thought? Do you think it's a bad sign if you do?

Taking a break was the best thing my boyfriend and I ever did. I only wish we'd done it sooner- we needed the time apart to work on ourselves first before we could ever make it as a couple. Its been a tough reunion just because he'd made these plans when we werent' together to travel abroad, but at the same time, now that we are back together from before his trip, we're using the distance to work on our communication and solidify our individual lives. I can't wait until he's home again in a few weeks so we can really give this everything we've got!! A small side note though- we did break up because in our lives we didn't really make time for each other, not because of cheating or trust issues. If you don't have a foundation of trust, I don't know how anything could survive. Just my two cents.

Yay McGosling! I think it depends on why the couple broke it off in the first place. If it's something forgivable or that the person has changed, then yes a relationship can be rekindled but when it's something that is not easy to forgive, it's probably best to stay separated.

Who knows why they broke up, and who knows why it took so long to get back together. Only they know. Lots of couples get back together and it works. From what I've read, they hadn't seen each other for a long time, so when they did this time, they were like glue since. I hope it works out for them.

i think its a tough decision cause you really need to make sure the reasons why you broke up are not there or resolved cause then youre just going to have history repeat itself

I love these two and hope they can work it out. Honestly, in my own life I'm not sure I'd get back together with my recent ex. There are so many issues to work out, plus a cross country move. He'd have to propose or something and I know for sure he's not about to do that.

I loved them together. I think they broke up because of the crazy notebook people who though they actually were Allie and Noah.. They both can deal with the media attention on their relationship otherwise they wouldn't be so open about it, like when Ryan said Rachel was one of his 'greatest loves' you know? and rachel was commenting on the end of their relationship and answering pretty personal questions albeit gentle in th canadian version of OK or Hello and she said she was single and dating no one, which is such a shock, shes a catch if ever i saw one. im guessing they missed eachother and when they kept seeing eachother realised that their relationship was worth it in the end, however the media is gonna be hounding them. I wish people would just think okay they are together again, end off. No need to obsess otherwise i'd hate for their relationship to be jeapordised because of it cos i think what they have is so sweet and sincere.

i love them together. they have had nothing but the nicest things to say about eachother since the breakup. it could be that they were at a point in their lives where work and being single and figuring out what they wanted was a necessity before being together. also they said the invasion of privacy and constantly being away from eachother was hard on them at the time. i loved them together. they seemed like a really down to earth couple that genuinely cared about eachother and if it is true that they rekindled their romance then good for them!

we think they're perfect together because of their characters in "The Notebook"...but who knows what they're like in real life! I secretly hope they are back together though...they're so cute

Considering that they've broken up twice before, it doesn't look good.

I haven't seen the notebook so these two never really did anything for me one way or another. Why did they break up anyway? By the way, I think "you either know or you don't" is overly simplistic. Loving someone isn't enough.

you never know the situation in terms of location etc. if they dont live close to each other, then maybe they had other things to think about other than just the love they feel for one another i dont think you should have to talk youself into re-dating someone but sometimes logistics play a factor when your heart is trying to tell you something else

Whatever you feel in your heart is right then go for it. People should be mature enough to handle a breakup and if they feel they can be with that person again, then just hope for the best and dive back in.

I'm happy for them :D But I personally couldn't do on again off again relationships. They're too hard emotionally for me, and I think breaks and all that bull is immature and a waste of time.

well i think every situation is different. i've been with my boyfriend for a little over two years now. we had a beautiful bby last september. we had been trying (and i say that because i don't believe we ever really dated before) since i was 17, I'm 25 now. Anyway, i think we both needed to do a lot of growing up and it wasn't like the whole time this was going on, we thinking "hmm, should i date her/him again" it's just a process and sometimes it takes longer to get there and sometimes it really does work out. best of luck to both of them. i was just watching The Notebook this weekend and bummed about them not being together again. awwww.. I remember reading this story once where he said the Notebook story has nothing on their real love story.. awww

i think people just need time to think things through. For some people its longer then others. And you need to know if that someone is really for you...and work to resolve the issues that broke you up in the first place! YAY Ryan and Rachel! So excited..thsi totally brightens up my rainy wednesday!

People should absolutely think long and hard before giving a relationship another go...there's a reason it ended in the first place, right? I do believe in second chances, and I think that sometimes giving it another go can work if both people have changed. But for me personally, once I've ended things, that's it. I move on after calling it quits; it's a better healing process for me after either doing the hurting or being hurt.

in my opinion, there should be some thought put into the decision. soemtimes emotions & time can get in the way & make your past together look better than it really was. you have to sit down & see if the issues that lead you to break up before have been solved or else you're just setting yourself up for another breakup in the future.

Its a tough decision yes. Like with me for example, I was with my ex for 6 years off and on the last 2 years we finally took it a little serious and lived together. People would tell me not to take him back because we were always breaking up and making up but my heart fooled me. but things went down hill. We called it quits like a month ago. It was so hard on me at first but now I am ok. I think if I had a chance to get back with him I wouldn't But I have been in their place where you just can't help yourself and you want to give it a change. There is nothing wrong with having a hope. Eventually if its not meant to be, they will figure it out on their own. Hopefully they dont. but thats the funny thing about life, you never know what you are gonna get.
