Sunday Confessional: Really. Twilight? Blah

This week's confessional comes from our anonymous Confession Booth group in the TrèsSugar Community. Feel free to weigh in in the comments.

I just watched Twilight for the very first time.

I have to confess, it was not what I expected.
I don't understand what the whole fuss is about.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart always look faded at their premiers. I'm surprised they look so good in the movie.

And I thought it was dumb when Edward's skin turned into diamonds when he was touched by the sun. I mean, really? C'mon.

That's not real vampire story. Yeah, it's a love story but girls shouldn't be getting so wet over it. That is my confession.

Twilight was not as great as people made it seem to be.

There's lots of great stuff going on in our community — join it, check it out, share your posts or advice in the great groups, and maybe we'll feature it here on TrèsSugar!

I watched the movie and didn't understand the big deal, then i read the books. The books are so much better than the movies. I did rewatch Twilight after i read the book and enjoyed it more.

I personally can't stand Twilight and most of the fans of it. It's too juvenile - like what a child thinks a relationship is but is too young to realize that relationship is not healthy. I don't think this is the type of relationship teenage girls should dream about.

You needed to go to Confession Booth to say you don't like Twilight ? What is there to confess ? It's pure escapism, it's sappy as hell. It's offensive to women, good literature, vampires, and people who have a healthy realistic perspective on relationships. A real confession would be if one realized all those things and enjoyed the movie anyway, haha.

Twilight sucks period. More people are agreeing on that than licking it.

sometimes even simply written books are enjoyable, I can appreciate the story within and understand who they are written for. The twilight series however isn't just a badly written series, its story and characters and settings are embarrassingly bad. Books aren't supposed to raise our children, but these books shouldn't be in the hands of any child who is forming their own personalities and values. Just check out superfan comment #5. typical twilight fan.

Spacekat - well said! Even though I don't like the books, everyone has a different opinion and I respect everyone who came on here and said they like it in the face of all of our dislike! It has become cool with a lot of grown MEN to make fun of girls who enjoy Twilight and that is just ridiculous. You don't see Twilighters marching into their Star Trek conventions and telling them what is what. :)

The hype starts with the novel. Read it and you'll understand why. I love the novel, but not liking the movie. It's better for you to watch it before you read the novel. I had high expectation of the movie when it first come out, but it fell flat since they cut out major scenes from the novel.

if you just bring it down to a love story-it's not even that. it's a HORRIBLE love story, i don't see it as "real" or "true" love..bella and edward's relationship in incredibly toxic, shallow, and just plain stupid. i can see how teenage girls can get into this but there are better love stories out there. Twilight is cheesy and fun entertainment, but nothing to take seriously.

I actually liked the movies (which I saw 2 weeks ago) though I was thoroughly expecting to hate them. That said, I really love corny, romantic, girly movies so Twilight was like a really fun guilty pleasure. I read the books last week too and though I liked the first 3, the 4th book was kind of ridiculous.

LMAO. I HATE Twilight. I read the first book to see what the hype was about. Such a bad idea. It sucks. I can't even imagine watching the movies. I would rather die. I don't get it. 40 year old women are going crazy over this shit?? Really??? It's awful writing. Horrid.

I think that the only reason girls like Twilight is because Bella is a nondescript "fill-in-the-blank" character that bored women can insert their own character traits and looks into. I really hate how much the author messed up the image of vampires. They aren't sparkley, "vegetarian", nice guys. Seriously. Read some real vampire literature or watch better written and more exciting vampire t.v. shows/movies (i.e. Dracula, True Blood, etc.).

I watch so few movies I have no clue what it's about other than previews. If I was that interested I would have watched by now.

Has any one read the books? I find that the Twighlight fan base is mainly from the literary version and although the movies are poor translation to a hormonal young teen the eye candy in the films are just cherries on top of a story they already love. It gives photographic texture to the fantasy. My niece who is fifteen read all three books before she saw the films. At times she was so emotionally moved and she knew the movies wouldn't come close to the books but she wanted to see the boys because they're hot.
