True or False: High Heels Cause UTIs?

There are many reasons why women get UTIs: holding your pee, not going to the bathroom after sex, wiping the wrong way, and not flushing out your kidneys, but let me ask you this question:

Is it true or false that wearing high heels can cause a bladder infection?

I had no idea. But then again the medical community will come back two years from now and say NOT wearing heels causes bladder infections. Geez!

I have to agree with whoever said that there is no proof of this in any medical journals or otherwise. I work at a clinic, and asked some of the physicians INCLUDING a Urologist and he said its been looked at but not PROVEN> Dont publish some random tip from a member and call it fact.

Liz4aker.. I think heels could cause more damage when your mad at your husband.. wink wink.. *heel in head* I had more bladder infections when I didn't wear heels, Now that I wear them more, and take more care of myself.. I never have infections..

I know heels can cause a lot of damage... but I'm not sure how much I believe this one. Is this a common cause or a really rare thing?

I wore heels for 20 years. Never had a UTI but gave them up when I was told I would need foot surgery, on both feet, from wearing heels. My feet corrected on their own, I didn't need surgery, and only wear heels for special occasions. Ah, :-)

I guess having sex on a full bladder, while wearing HIGH heels and drinking a Cola, really doesn't help my bladder.. DANG IT!!! thanks for the info. HAHA..

This is so unbelievable, maybe it's meant more for women who wear heels all the time, every day and their body is completely adjusted to that.

I've only ever had one in my life and I wear heels all the time. I think at the most, wearing high heels can cause UTIs for some people.

who knew??? thats crazy! i get uti's all the time and i do everything the doctor tells me to do (pee before and after sex, don't hold it, wipe front to back, cotton underwear) and now it boils down to my penchant for 4 inch heels.

considering that there are no reputable medical sites that discuss this being true, i don't think it's all that responsible to publish a post like this, especially with such wording. but hey, if you're prone to infections, you probably want to do whatever you can do lessen your chances, right?

I'm actually totally serious. I had recurring UTIs for a couple of years, and when I got into my heel obsession, they stopped. I haven't had one since.

:ROTFL: Greggie! I knew it was going to have to do something with the angle of your body.. Drink cranberry juice while you're wearing the heels ;)
