Turn On or Turn Off: Shy Guys

I’m a sucker for soft-spoken guys, the ones that avert their gaze the moment you make contact only to catch their subtle glance later. I guess I just love their quick grin and silent smiles, or maybe I just like a little bit of a challenge! Whatever it is, I find shy guys a complete turn on. However, I can totally understand that what I find endearing, another girl might consider irritating. So which side do you fall on?

Unfortunately, shyness is something that I can't deal with. I am shy myself to a point, and I could never date someone shyer than I am. I like outgoing guys. Fairly recently I was invited to a party by a shy guy that liked me, and he said to bring whoever I I did! I got there, and he didn't come over to say hi or anything! Didn't introduce me to his friends, or even at least me introduce my friends to him. He ran away from us! I understand being nervous, but that was just awkward for everyone involved. Those kind of things are a huge turnoff for me.

no, I need a really outgoing, talkative guy who constantly makes me laugh, just like my lovely boyfriend. I talk a lot, and surprisingly, I like a guy who talks a lot too. and I love that my honeypie always makes me laugh(he's really funny), and that he's so outgoing and fun...

I realized my type of guy is totally the shy guy. And shy brunettes/black haired guys with a little bit of a chubby cheek and stomach. I can't resist.

Shy guys are usually nice guys, but they should not be too shy to approach you or ask you out.

Hmmmmm.... undecided. Yes, because the shyness is adorable, but no because it's pretty incompatible with my outgoingness.

I like shy guys a lot, to begin with. I don't like it if they take no initiative or never open up at all.

I said turn off. I am super shy myself (Actually, it's that I can't figure out what to talk about, so I don't say anything... not that I am scared to.), so it'd be a mess if I wanted to date a shy guy.

My husband is shy to outsiders, but with me and our friends he is wild, crazy, and funny. That makes him so sexy to me!!!

shy guys are cute but like previous posters said if they dont open up at some point its a dealbreaker. and u have to be careful not to mistake shy as emotionally unvailable -- trust me :)

I can't say all shy guys are a turn-off because my boyfriend was a shy guy at first. I mean, he passed up a week of perfect opportunities to give me a kiss, and it took two weeks before he could muster up the courage to ask me out. He never avoided eye contact nor was shy about wrapping his arms around me, and when we spoke, he didn't act meek or soft-spoken. He was just shy about verbally expressing his feelings for me. HOWEVER, there were guys that had a crush on me for more than a year, and would NEVER ask me out or even sit near. Those guys are so frustrating!

it definitely depends on how shy he is. i find sometimes if a guy is shy then he can be easy to flirt with. but if he's the type who is hard to get out of his shell...then it's annoying. if shyness is part of insecurity then EWW NOT attractive.

Shy guys can be so annoying to me, lol! It drives me crazy when guys won't just speak up or do something. I used to be extremely shy, and I worked really really hard to get over it and not act so shy and put myself out there and have fun. So when other people act shy I feel like they aren't at their full potential, so it annoys me and I just want to help them not feel so shy, lol. :-P

Since I'm shy if I had a shy guy we would get nowhere! I need my guy to be the one to speak up and take care of business.

I like a guy who has the shy tendencies you mentioned but isn't so shy that he'll just shut himself off from the world. Any extreme is bad, you know? :)

I have a love/hate relationship with shy guys. I love a guy who's initially shy, but very quickly warms up and comes out of his shell. I'm on the go nonstop for my job, consistently having new roommates and friends every two or three months. Because of that, I don't have a whole lot of time to play the whole 6 month getting to know you game. I need to know you now so that I can tell if starting a relationship is worth my time or if I should just move on.

For me, it's a turn-on AT FIRST. It's kind of cute. But then it gets annoying...I'm pretty social and I just can't be with a guy who keeps to himself all the time. My high school sweetheart was a "shy guy", which I was very attracted to at first. But after awhile, our very different personalities conflicted...I liked to go out and be active and do things, he preferred to sit at home. And when we did go out, he hardly said a word. I couldn't deal anymore!

My man is shy. Verrrrry shy. I knew he liked me in the beginning; his body language was very revealing to me. It was cute. I ended up asking him out because I couldn't take it anymore and I had to get it going... Let's just say he hasn't been shy with me since.
