What Was Your Biggest Worry of 2009?

Almost 80 percent of TrèsSugar readers described themselves as worriers when I asked earlier this year. While it's important to keep unnecessary anxiety in check, sometimes we have legitimate things to fret about.

Whether it's job stability, a big move, or the health of a family member — all of us have something weighing on our minds from time to time. What was your biggest worry this year?

I recently moved back to southern ca from San Francisco where I was living my dream for school....I moved because CSU budget cuts were making it too hard to finish my last few semesters in Journalism. My program was cut pretty bad, my job cut down on hours and laid people off....Muni fares went up...cost of living for me...I couldn't afford it. Upon moving back to transfer to a school that wasnt so bad...CSU's closed the spring semester to all new students leaving me in the wind until next fall : ( Those are my worries. On to bigger things in 2010

Money & employment-- I got laid off in the first 2 weeks of 2009 and decided to go back to school full-time to finish my master's degree. Hopefully in 2010 I will graduate and get a great job to pay off all of these loans I am accruing!

No job, no money. Way to graduate from law school with a pile of debt just as the recession got really really terrible. Just awesome.

I'm a graphic design student, so obviously I NEED a computer. Mine kept crashing and it was gone for about 2 months before I finally bought an iMac desktop, and then justlikethat I was $2000 poorer and my worries went from my computer to my bank balance.

Living up to what is expected of me in school! I have professors that have more faith in me than I do.

Money!! I got laid off too, it took 8 months to FINALLY find a good job for myself. Here's to 2010! Hopefully everything starts looking up for everyone! :)

My biggest worry of the year was finding a new job before getting laid off. I've dodged 4 rounds of layoffs and am only 1 of 6 people left in a department of originally 40. Things were looking bleak in the past few weeks- but I managed to get a new job that starts in the new year. Best early Christmas present!!! Good luck to everyone here- there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel!!!

Definitely employment issues, for both my husband and myself. Thankfully, I do have a good job, but at times it has been uncertain.

-Trying to get a promotion at my job (I'm labeled "receptionist" but I do all the workload of an "executive assistant"!) -Trying to maintain healthy habits (eating and exercising right)If I don't eat right, I go into very deep depressions (would not believe how much fish oil helps me!!) -Trying to save as much as I can so I can get an apt. with my bf (who himself has been struggling with finding a job in the last year)

1. Whether or not I would be able to find another job as good as my last one (I was victim of a corporate lay-off in Dec 08')...I ended up finding a job, but it wasn't as good as my last one. :( 2. Deciding between going to graduate school, switching careers and starting all over again, and/or having a baby...still kind of deciding.

OMG! such a stressful year...2009, don't let the door hit ya...! Job security, and a stressful atmosphere. Paycut, and total lack of job options in my field. A heavy course load with school, and not being able to socialize due to money concerns. Developing stress-related asthma, and then balloning weight from the medication... I have high hopes for 2010! ;)

Thanks so much for your concern, Yoga and SKG! I'm hopeful. People are a lot worse off than we are. Thankfully I have a decent job so my husband's under-employment hasn't put us in jeopardy of losing our house or anything.

oh Lawchick - I hope things turn around next year! I had a friend who after years and years of trying to have a baby and not being able to get pregnant, finally got pregnant and is now at 36 weeks. Keep your chin up - it will happen in due time!

It's equally split between my husband not being able to find a legal job (over a year after passing the bar) and infertility

SKG congrats to you and your husband!!!! I wasn't "in debt" necessarily, but some unexpected expenses this fall put my credit cards into .... well, the balances were uncomfortably high for me and it took some time to get them paid off but as of yesterday one is at $0 balance and the other has $300 or something left. money wasn't necessarily a worry for me, but more my budget and making sure the money I have was working for me. I'm young and don't make a lot and live in super expensive Manhattan, but I'm really proud that I have still been able to save and invest a little yet enjoy the city.
