When It Comes to Your Period, Is This Normal?

For most women, getting our period is something we've come to terms with. While it doesn't leave us feeling all that great, it's something we can't change, at least right now!

Your period comes and goes every month, and you probably don't give it much thought, aside from putting tampons on your grocery list, so take this quiz to make sure you know what should and shouldn't be happening to your body during that time of the month.

FYI! If your pharmacy switched you to the generic of Yasmin, called Ocella, DEF pay attention to your body! Over 2 months I became increasingly fatigued, and near the end of the second pack, i had TWO PERIODS IN TWO WEEKS! My doc said there is a problem with the way it is being absorbed. A lot of people (in my area) are actually having probs with it, so, if you are on it, just pay attention!

i'm with GlowingMoon.. that is the only one that threw me off. For me, I was thinking that maybe the spotting was due to the fertilized egg implanting into the uterine wall... being pregnant was something I'd want to talk to my doctor about! hah I guess I got the timing mixed up X|

My friend just started having really heavy, painful periods, and she went to the DR, and she found out she has endometreosis. I feel sad for her.

I got better than I thought, 5/6! I'm glad the blood clots are common. First time I saw one I freaked.

It was sometimes tricky to answer the questions, as periods can be really different from one person to the other. I think the best rule is to be attentive to any change - for instance re clots, some women pass clots during their periods and some don't. If one period is different it may not be anything serious, but if it keeps being completely different then it might be worth asking your doctor (for instance I think clots and very heavy bleeding are among the symptoms for endometriosis). And thanks for the test Dear, I'd for instance never heard of ovulation spotting (sometimes it worries me how I think I know everything about these topics and then realise I really don't!)

sweetpea, I've had this happen every month since I was twelve. It's normal for me. Spotting during ovulation is not, so if that would ever happen, I would see my doctor. We all know what's normal for our periods. This quiz was helpful, b/c we know what abnormal signs to look out for pertaining to our own cycles.

I can't agree with the answer to the first question. If you notice large blood clots this could be a symptom of uterine fibroids. Make sure your doctor looks for them if you are in one of the at risk categories during your yearly exam.

I missed this question, but truthfully, for myself only, I think I'm right: "Question 2: Spotting in the middle of your cycle (about two weeks before your period). Your answer: Something to ask your doctor about. Correct answer: Totally normal, and nothing to worry about." I NEVER spotted when I ovulated (and yes, I know when I've ovulated). If I started to spot during that time, that's abnormal for me, and I would definitely discuss it with my doctor. JMHO.
