Where Do You Stand: Male Plastic Surgery

We all seem torn when it comes to plastic surgery. So what about male cosmetic surgery? It’s no longer an anomaly to hear of a man going under the knife — they are getting facelifts, Botox, and calf and butt implants, too! Truth be told, I’m not sure how I’d feel if the guy I was dating had undergone voluntary surgery for the sake of looking, well, prettier. But is this just another double standard or does male cosmetic surgery make a guy less attractive in your book? Tell me ladies, where do you stand on male plastic surgery?

I'm having plastic surgery, am getting a nose job on this upcoming May 19th, so I think whatever makes a person (whether male or female) happy and confident is cool. As long as they don't go overboard with plastic surgery. I had consultations with 4 plastic surgeons and I picked the 4th one because he was the best. I liked his work, and he gets profiled in the media, and he is also very nice, treats me with respect as his patient, and I just a good feeling about him as a doctor. His staff is also decent, respectable and friendly. I also looked him up online to make sure he was board certified. So yeah I did my hw.

i really have no opinion as i don't really think gender is or should be an issue nowadays, as like many of you have said if women can have it why cant men? i think it is a shame that people in general feel the need to alter themselves in such a way to feel happy, but if it does make you truly happy then indulge by all means. and of course if it is such a disfigurement or accident causing then obviously plastic surgery is necessary. I'm a student at Leeds university and I've been given a research assessment on men and cosmetic surgery. Now like i said i have no bias about it, but i would love to be able to talk to a man/boy, a male who has had or considering having cosmetic, and just to find out why that particular person would like it. I know its a touchy subject as most often it can involve a history of bullying, or a life long dislike of a certain part of your body, but that's fine i wont judge id just like to know why and if they felt under pressure by media or society in anyway. so if any of you lovely ladies could help me if you have any male friends please contact me on xx

If it's ok for women to do it, it's ok for men to do it too. I think it's a little sad that some people feel the need to "fix" themselves, but I guess most people need a crutch of some kind or another in their lives. I am all about the power to do what you wish with your life and your body, other peoples opinions be damned. Whatever makes them happy!

I can understand a man getting plastic surgery if he's very unfortunate looking, and it's effecting his life in a detremental way. So many women get plastic surgery, why not men? It wouldn't be just them reaping the benefits! As long as they don't turn Micheal Jackson, like erratic said.

I'm with the others who have said that they are generally against plastic surgery all together. This has only solidfied since I started watching nip/tuck recently. Obviously, the surgery scenes are intensified to an extreme, but I just cannot see cutting yourself up to look "better."

One of my male friends had a nose job. When I met him he had a HUGE lump in the bridge. I was surprised when I heard he was having surgery (he was the first person I knew to have any cosmetic work done) but he said the reason his nose was so big was because it had been broken, and he just wanted the shape he would have had without the accident. I thought his surgery was subtle and well done. My friend still has a strong enough nose to suit his angular face, it just doesn't have the lump any more. He looks much better now and never had any other work done, so I'm glad for him. But I think calf and butt implants are weird regardless of the person's sex.

I'd be ruined if my boyfriend had plastic surgery. I think he is perfect the way he is. But I guess if a guy is really hung up on something and it's going to make him feel better, it's not so bad. But in general, I do wish people, both men and women, wouldn't be so quick to see plastic surgery as an option. Whatever happened to "Love yourself the way you are"?

All I think about is that True Life special of that dork that got calf implants and how hot he thought he was. I don't mind plastic surgery but man or woman butt implants are just dumb.

I don't believe in plastic surgery in the first place, unless that person was disfigured in an accident or because of diseases such as breast cancer. But whatever makes you happy! If I found out my guy had butt or calf implants i'd tease him so much!
