Which Type of Movie Is Best on a First Date?

I absolutely love going to the movies and I think it's a great idea for a first date. It doesn't require a ton of money, and you can tell a lot about someone's personality by his or her reactions in the theater. For instance, if you see a love story and your date sheds a tear, then you know he's the sensitive type. In a movie, you don't have to worry about awkward silences or searching for conversation topics like you sometimes have to on a standard dinner date. And if things are going well, you can always eat after the movie — you'll be guaranteed something to talk about then!

Love story:: This is another movie that will surely bring you to tears. This is a perfect blend of all sorts of emotions that you can expect to experience in a single life. There is romance which is extremely enduring and obstacles as well. The actors have made the characters alive onscreen with their proficiency and talent. Though this is an universal truth that romance often brings in gloom but still this is the best thing that can ever happen to you. This is vividly featured in this movie and is a perfect watch for the two of you.

My boyfriend and I started dating after we performed in a play together. Our first date was to see a comedy. I wouldn't recommend going on a first date with someone you haven't interacted with much before.

I'm with the "bad idea" group. Unless it is a first date with someone you have known for a while, a friend who you know well, I don't want our first real interaction to be staring at a movie screen, I want to know about them. Dinner, walk about town, a few drinks, almost anything but a movie!

I think ALL movies are great for different reasons. They're a good way to show off your personality (do you laugh loudly, do you cry, et cetera) and have something to talk about afterwards.

I voted for Drama because I love sparking up interesting/intellectual discussions. However, I think watching a comedy would be a good one to watch as well.

I think that comedies are the best choices. You can laugh and it's a great relaxer. Horror or thrillers will just put you on edge. It's a great way to put you in a good mood making the rest of the date a lot easier.

I think going to the movies on a first date is horrible! You don't get to talk much, and for me, the whole point of a first date is to get to know the person and see if they're someone you're interested in dating.

i don't like going to a movie on the first date. you can't really interact with someone. it's a good icebreaker for those who get nervous i suppose. i think movies are a boring date. on the first date with my guy, he took me to fly kites and then on a picnic----at night----in a canoe. it was amazing and we're still together after more than a year, living together, and still hanging out in canoes.

I said comedy, because I think it's important to laugh at the same things. On an unrelated note, on my very first date, I went to see Ghost, and my date cried. Ok, I thought, he's sensitive. But then on our second date, we went to see Three Men and a Little Lady, and he cried AGAIN. I decided he was kinda weird. Then later, he turned out to be like the hottest guy at my high school. Shows what I know.

I like comedies because they give you guys the chance to just relax and laugh. And speaking of comedies, what's going on with that guy's hair in the pic chosen for this post?

I think a comedy is perfect! Keep it casual and fun.

I'm with you cubadog! If I'm on a first date then I want to get to know the guy and how am I going to do that when I'm watching a movie?

I think it is the worst first date. I want to get to know the person and last time I checked you can't talk the whole way through the movie.

I wouldn't want to see something scary/suspensful unless I was comfortable with the person. I don't think it's a good first date idea at all.

As long as it's not a serious love story, it doesn't matter. Then after the movie, head to a coffee shop or bar and now you have something to talk about! I however do not do horror movies at any time. I freak out too easily. Regardless of "type" it has to be one that I would have wanted to see otherwise and know I'm probably going to like it before I go to see it.

I like going to movies as first dates, especially comedies. I LOVE to laugh, and I HATE awkward silences, so a funny movie is perfect for a first date! I do like that we have something to talk about after that as well.

Horror or comedy. I think first dates are awkward enough, you don't need a deep or confusing movie as the backdrop. I saw the first Saw movie on a date, though, and that was a baaaaad idea. I was traumatized the rest of the evening.
